Herro + us taking the rest of the Simmons deal. Dame to Miami. It was part of an earlier post I had of a 3 team deal.
Miami has a lot of work to do to get that to happen. But you are right, it is possible. I would be surprised though if Oladipo at this point got them a first.
This was inevitable. There was a subset of fans who thought Dame would never leave for any reason. So those fans are feeling hurt and betrayed.
Herro is a tad younger and makes a few million more per year. Meh. I'm happy keeping either one for next year and trying to move them again next year after they ball out for us this year.
if there is any backlash against dame, he brought it on himself by saying all those things over the years now hes a hypocrite, it is what it is
they only have two: 2028 & 2030. Could swap 2029 but swaps are generally worthless where's Olshey when you need him....without him around I can't believe any team would give up a 1st for Dipo Herro may be worth a 1st to some team; he won't be worth 3 first's to anybody but yeah, if Miami could come up with 7 first round picks, 3 or 4 unprotected, the Blazers would definitely take it
Interesting I thought simons was slightly younger. Looks like Herro makes 6 million more in his final year.
No he didn't. Plenty of people here argued that he would not ask out even if we decided to use the 3rd pick, even though Dame has said for months that going young was not his path, using some combination of backwards logic, semantic shifting, and hope based on previous comments. If you feel "deceived" it is on you, because Lillard has always been the type of person to say what he means and mean what he says. I'm bummed about Lillard wanting out. I wish we would have taken a risk and kept him here, but it is what it is and nothing can change that. No matter how much disdain I have for Joe and Jody I will always be a fan of the TRAILBLAZERS before Damian Lillard. The only thing we should be worried about at this point is making sure we maximize the value we get for trading him.
he shouldve kept his mouth shut and there would be no issue with his trade request he was loud about loyalty, being against forming a superteams, mocking other players for doing so and now saying he wants to go to miami (sabotaging his team by doing so)
The Miami request/demand is the part that should upset Blazer fans - that's putting pressure on the organization to take a bad deal to get him what he wants.
Also: I see people quoting articles or things Dame said years and years ago about how he would never leave. He was in his 20s then, he's in his 30s now. People change, they are not characters in a movie. I'm sure most people go through a similar transformation throughout their life. Think of the type of person you were in your early 20s, late 20s, 30s, 40s, whatever. Are you the same? We're all human beings, Dame included. He has a right to feel how he feels. I'll always love Dame and the memories he brought, but I completely understand his stance, and I respect it.
oh, OK...I see where you were coming from now Miami doesn't have any first's till 2028 though if the Blazers can somehow work it so they send out Dame + Nurkic and only take back Simmons + Jovic they'd create a 21M TPE; that could be handy.
That's exactly right. I'm not mad at him leaving, he has every right. I don't feel betrayed (look at the shit he endured professionally and personally), but I do take exception to the "only going to one team."
