But that’s part of why we did the CJ deal. It wasn’t a coincidence that we got just the right size TPE and a pick to trade Detroit

Th bucks are actually a team with worse assets than Miami.

He's been screwing up from the beginning. He'll get canned when we get new ownership. Jody and Vulcan love a yes-man.

I just checked Milwaukee's roster and they've got fewer tradeable assets than Miami. Bobby Portis (who turns 29 during next season) is about it, unless you want Grayson "even more punchable than Herro" Allen.

I've been thinking of Herro as a richer man's Grayson Allen. And he looks a lot less like Ted Cruz. Not sure if those two facts are related.

I have maintained and I still will, that I think Dame was out best shot at a championship. But, that ship has sailed. A lot of people are upset, and yes pointing out his flaws.

He is probably going to win championships while the Blazers get laughed at by the media. The articles and talk will go from the Blazers owe Dame to trade him to a contender/Miami to I can't believe the Blazers gave up on him and traded him.

I really hope for the most part, the media can just follow him to whereever he goes, and leave us to rebuild in peace and quiet. I know that's not happening but hey.

We do need more CoD players for our LAN parties.

Breathe, Chris. Take a breath. Dame winning a championship, to me, still is far from a fait accompli as long as Jokic is in Denver, the Lakers are putting together a roster with some thought in LA, the Celtics still have their core, Giannis is in his prime, the Suns have a stacked starting five and Steph and Klay are playing for Kerr in GS. Even if Dame goes to the Heat, I still don't think they're even the clear favorite in the east.

I don't know about that, but his legacy will be that he waltzed into Portland and gave away the whole team.

The Blazers aren't going to win a championship anytime soon, but I don't think Lillard's in super shape, either. The thing is, while all these teams contending now are aging out of contention, the Blazers' nucleus should be hitting its prime. We should be in good position to move into contention when there's a void at the top.

Oh, I'm breathing. I'm over it now. Ready for the drama to be over and the next era to begin.

I'm just saying the media is going to spin it.

Totally agree, if Dame goes to Miami they will be amongst a host of contenders, absolutely not a clear favorite IMO

You sound like me when I was younger, where I'd get into a funk and my anxiety and stuff would have me expecting everything to fail, even stuff that couldn't.

Just let things play out, Chris. This book isn't even close to being finished yet. Don't despair.

Concur with all of this. It's not an exact match, but the OKC post-KD and then post -PG is kind of an analogue, and you could make the logical leap (I'm not) that we're ahead because we have both Scoot and Sharpe (instead of just 2019-20 SGA). Stay the course--acknowledge that those players were good as hell, trade for an absolute Brink's Truck coming back, stay quiet and out of the spotlight for a year or two and then be the "holy cow! They're a fast-rising young team and they have a ton of draft capital going forward? Watch out for the Blazers!"

Mostly passed the funk and despair. In acceptance of this new era. Just waiting for the trade to go through so we can move on.

I'm letting it play out. Cronin could be the guy who tears it all down, only to rebuild it right. We'll see. I never close a book in the middle of the story. Gotta see what happens in the next chapter.

As a member of the media, I can say that their spin only affects us if we allow it to. Even just as individuals, haters will spin narratives about you out of spite, jealousy or their own bitterness. You can give in and react to that, or you can refuse to be distracted, stay on your course and continue to grind.

I think Cronin would have given CJ away regardless. He was in cost-cutting mode with little effort to recoup assets.

All I ask in this ordeal is that we hold out against the intense pressure to make a deal that doesn't net us back a substantial return. This is it. After trading Dame, we have few assets remaining. If we don't get a haul for Dame, the rebuild may not happen even in the Scoot/Sharpe window. That's what's scary to me.
