And in terms of play and attitude, Jimmy Buckets and Bam seem much more in tune with how Dame prepares and plays than Tatum and Porzingis.

If this happens I’d expect to see Porzingis + Brogdon and picks for Dame and Nurk.

Maybe you re-sign Porzingis or you are freeing up cap room for the future with expiring contracts in the next 2 years.

Celtics get Dame, and a starting C.

Blazers get future Cap flexibility for their RFA’s

For Dame and Nurk we could get Brown and Williams...today I heard Boston has the most attractive trade package of any eastern conference team looking to add Dame. Tatum wants Dame badly according to several sources. Dame Tatum Nurk and Porzingas would be a contender in the east.

I have been wondering if his family has been pushing him towards Miami because they want to spend a few years in a warm climate.

    Hmmm…

    Scoot
    Sharpe
    Brown
    Grant
    Williams

My question is is Brown a max player, didn’t watch him a lot outside of the playoffs. I know he gets his stats but is he a winner? I don’t sense a lot of fire watching him.

See that's what I would try and do. Get Sengun and then two of Amen Thompson, Jabari Jr. and Tari Eason. I like this trade for example:

Getting Sengun, and Eason and taking a flier on Jabari Smith. You can probably trade Brogdon at the deadline for a first. That's a LOT of young talent at the wing and PF/C positions. View attachment 56636

Why does anyone care if where Dame goes becomes a "contender?"

Did Donovan Mitchell or Rudy Gobert make their team a contender?

To me it's a secondary concern after value. All things being equal, I'd love for Dame to go to a contender. However, if there is a large difference between the haul we'd get sending Dame to a Contender vs. someone not in contention, well Dame, you yourself said the risk of the "Grass being greener" can easily lead to disaster. Well there you are.

Here is another version of the BOS -> HOU -> Portland trade. This one might be more palatable in terms of positional balance for Houston and might be a bigger steal for us and gives us multiple young wings to experiment with:

I don't think Houston is giving up all that but it's the right idea.

I really like it from a value standpoint but I'd want to flip Brogdon pretty quickly. He's too good on the court not to play him and I wouldn't want him taking minutes from the guards we already have.

I just can’t believe Riley’s ego is so big he thought Herro/Robinson/2 Distant 1s was enough and we would accept it.

I would start the season with Dame on the bench before I accepted that.

I feel like we can't mock other forums for their absurd asks for Dame if we turn around and expect to somehow land Jabari, Amen, Eason AND 3 picks for him. That' skewing it pretty far the other direction, IMO.

Eh...... I'm not that high on Jabari honestly. I think Eason will be a nice role player. Amen is the prize from that group, along with the picks. But Houston would get a young stud in Brown and 2 picks from Boston. I really don't think that trade is THAT bad for Houston. Brown is a star right now and he's only... 26?

If you live in a bargaining culture where it takes time to come to a price agreement, you probably wouldn't be insulted by ridiculous offers.
You'd know it was just a starting point.
That's where the Cronin and the Blazers are right now.

    Thank you.

I was just thinking this morning that most of the people crying about Dame don't know a damn thing about negotiating.

Have these people ever bought a house?
    Have they bought a car?
Have they negotiated a salary for a job?

Hell.... I walked into Video Only a couple days ago and negotiated on a new TV. And if you understand the art of negotiation, you realize that Dame coming out and saying that he won't play with another rookie was a massive hit to our ability to deal. He was tying Joe's hands behind his back before we even got started. It was a total bullshit.

    Nope. Nope. Nope.

Don't you get it? We treated Dame so badly. The millions he got paid. Putting him as the face of the franchise. Signing his cousin. None of that matters.

We did him wrong. The least we owe him is to take pennies on the dollar so he goes where he wants.

That's what we call fair value. Jabari is being called a bust by some Houston fans, Eason is a rotation player thus far, and Amen Thompson has never played in an NBA game. 3 picks plus Thompson (the crown jewel here) is what I call fair value. Would Houston do it? I think they might as just like Dame has that level of value, Jaylen Brown is an All-NBA, young two-way guard/wing that would fit in their new timeline with Fred Van Fleet, Dillon Brooks and Sengun. Houston still has a lot of picks left (including Boston's 2 first rounders from this trade btw). I'd say this is super fair to every team involved.

Remember, Brooklyn got 4 first round picks, plus Mikal Bridges an in his prime two-way SF, plus swaps. I think the Lillard haul is significantly smaller (no player we get is CLOSE to Bridges) and we get one less pick. I think you're not thinking this through.
