Meh on both prospects. Admittedly, it was only one game. I struggle to see a long-term role for Jovic. He can shoot, but he floats too much on the outside. Not much athleticism. Jaquez seems like a poor-man Hart. I can see him becoming a rotation bench player. Decent player. I actually liked what I saw out of the C Orlando Robinson the most.
I didn't think any other team could offer that, besides Boston. One of the requirements of the 'designated veteran' is that they are on the same team continuously
Yes, I did. They both looked good. Both have a high bbIQ, Watch the replay on NBA TV. Especially the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Apologies, but could someone explain the conditions regarding the pick we have going to Chicago? Including something in the Lillard deal that goes to Chicago that may free up that pick may be helpful to us.
Who is the best defensive point guard in the league? Might Pat Beverly be good for Scoot Henderson? It's imperative to get veterans who will play hard defense so it creates a tone within our young guys. If Dame had a coach who demanded it, he could have been a better defender.
Shit I wouldn’t be mad if we got Simmons. If he’s considered a toxic asset, we might get a haul. A young 6’10” Point Forward with Lockdown Defense. Sign me up.
it was lottery protected in 2022 & 2023 as well. That's right, fucking Olshey put a hold on every available 1st round pick Portland had for 7 years...for Nance Portland really can't even swap any draft picks till 2029. Oh, they could put a conditional swap of a lottery pick in one of those years, but that's insane. IMO, there is only one way Portland gets out of that stupid trade without giving up a 1st and that's if they stay in the lottery for the next 5 years....which is entirely possible. The Bulls aren't going to let the Blazers off that hook that's not even the most frustrating thing about that dumbass trade. Here's what Portland gave up for Nance: now, look what Chicago accepted in the trade for Lauri Markkanen: the Bulls traded Markkanen for what the Blazers traded for Nance. Portland could have Markkanen
I forgot one minor component of that trade. Yes, he locked up 7 straight years of first round picks from 2022-2028. But he also locked up the 2028 second round pick too. geeeeeezzuzzz
over and over people mention things they want to see going forward, and just about every scenario has no place for Simons
I wanted to trade him before Lillard...I believe he is now a critical part of the immediate future. I so hope this new backcourt learns to feed the hot hand, and he is as capable as any to get hot.
Dame's bad defense was tolerable because he had superstar talent and could run the team's offense well Simons is not anywhere as close to as talented as Dame, he hasn't shown he can run an offense, and his defense makes Dame look like Pat Beverly. As long as Ant is around, he'll start...meaning one of Scoot/Sharpe sits on the bench. If Portland has a shot at being really good, it's with Scoot and Sharpe developing major synergy. Simons will always be standing in the way of that.
Went through this entire thread to see if this was there. Just posturing? Or does this lend credence to rumors Herro might go elsewhere like to the Spurs? If true this would really destroy a lot of ideas for including NJ. @princengy Ian Begley on WFAN says “Nets want to be compensated if they are taking on Tyler Herro” https://heatnation.com/rumors/repor...pensated-for-taking-on-tyler-herros-contract/
