They should ask for Jaquez, Jovic and Martin regardless of what happens. Martin is worth at least a few seconds at worst. They should also ask them to free up the OKC pick. If they can free up the OKC pick completely, they can offer 4 1sts and 3 swaps. That would get the deal dine.
I get that and the main factor there is squeezing Miami for everything you can. Hopefully Cronin can draw a line that puts those two assets on the Blazers. I'm not confident he can draw that line though
how could they free up that 2026 unprotected pick? Why would OKC accept that without stealing value from Portland I won't credit it as realistic but I suppose a thought would be Herro to OKC for that pick obligation
I look at it this way, I'd be trying to move Herro and Martin to another team. Jovic and JJJ coming to Portland. Hopefully get 5-6 picks and another young guy from somewhere.
If I'm OKC I would MUCH rather have 2026 than 2025. The 2026 draft is much better. There's no reason for them to NOT want to shift the pick to 2026.
If we gotta take back Simmons to make all this work and get more draft capital who cares. We won’t be talking about the playoffs till his contract is up anyways.
Yes, the idea is Herro to free up that pick obligation, either by going to OKC or going to someone else and using whatever Herro returns to flip that to OKC and get the pick back. But regardless, the onus to do that is on the HEAT, not the Blazers. Heat need to find out how to free it up. There are 29 other teams. You have Herro, JJJ and Martin as tools to get that pick back somehow (Blazers value Jovic IMO). Figure it out.
I understand that and have said it numerous times. But I was asking how Miami could talk OKC out of that 2026 unprotected pick. That's s what BRoy said Miami needed to do
none of those guys are worth that 2026 unprotected pick; not close. Dame will be 36 then; Butler will be 37. As far as future picks go that's quite valuable for that very reason, by the way, Portland essentially owning Miami;s 2028-2030 picks is pretty good value as well
Blazers need to be asking them to get the pick BACK. Not move protections, not move it to a different year. GET IT BACK. Then the Heat won't need to worry about the Stepien rule and can offer 24/26/28/30 with swaps in 25/27/29. This is the line Joe needs to hold.
OKC has no reason to do that, and the Heat clearly don't have much in the way of assets to get them to move off. We can ask for it but I don't see how it's ever going to happen.
It's on Miami to figure that out. In a vaccum the value may be off but I wonder how much OKC truly values many of their firsts. They've been selling off firsts for less than perceived value over the last two years, partially because they already have too many. I think they would move it if you found a way to upgrade their roster now. Maybe that's with Herro, maybe that's with someone else, but that's where the job needs to be done.
If I'm OKC, I'm going to want every single 2026 pick I can get my hands on (and the Blazers should have the same mindset.) That's the draft with Boozer and Cooper Flagg.
Richman says that if the Heat don't immediately finalize the Oladipo to OKC trade and the Max Strus to Cleveland trades, that means the Heat might be trying to use those deals to expand the Dame trade.
Wait so ur saying mia can back out of deals and try to rework them to help obtain more value but pdx not trading their best player ever for a pile of shit is gonna make players not want to play for the organization? Lol
I'm looking forward to the day when Scoot and Shae are the starting guards and Ant is the combo guard microwave shooter off the bench. That's going to be a good, possibly great, young rotation.
