Every youg player now wants to shoot 3s from the logo. I say, teach them defense first, especially in this season with no expectations.
Dame is great guy, but I really hope we going to change this ISO ball, no defense "culture".

So Dallas basically gifted us an MLE? Sweet.

To those not willing to trade Matisse to Dallas though (because I think that's a distinct possibility, when possible...) you wouldn't have traded Matisse for the 11th pick in the draft? Really?

Why does it have to be Simmons or let's have Sharpe play maybe slightly out of position is that the only way you can defend wanting that bum Ben Simmons -- really that just shows you have no argument to make and you want to be lazy about it.

This is what you want in Ben Simmons this is is stat line for this past year

    GP - MPG - FG% - 3PT% - FT% - Orb - DRB - TRB - AST - STL - BLK - TOV - PPG
    42 - 26.29 - 0.566 - 0.000 - 0.439 - 0.95 - 5.31 - 6.26 - 6.10 - 1.29 - 0.57 - 2.31 - 6.93

You want this on the Blazers and to boot you get his contract for TWO more seasons at 37.8 and 40.3 million per season this is really what you want for this team. Now I have heard maybe it would be worth it if the Nets throw in 2 or 3 of there 1st's over the next few seasons and sure maybe ( doubt it ) that would make it worth it to a degree . However the Nets think they can start to make noise / contend again in the next two or 3 seasons that they might be willing to THROW AWAY first round picks to get this ass clown off there team. If the Blazers really hope to maybe turn it around how does this help the Blazers when another team basically told ya he is worthless so how does this help turn the Blazers around unless this owner does not really care about winning and just wants to tread water until she has to sell the team.

Unfortunately not really much left in free agency that we can use our MLE on.

Also, can we atart absorbing players with our exceptions yet or does that start next summer?

Yeah, very obviously we we were not interested in being a player in free agency. Having the full MLE gives us a lot of flexibility though. Who knows what shakes loose in the Euro league or a surprise cut or something? Also yes, now that the new CBA has been ratified, I believe we can use it as a defacto trade exception, which, given that we're talking about trading 80% of last year's starting lineup, also very probably does not hurt...

Woj and Neil were tight, so I'm sure a lot of that relationship was rolled over to Joe...

I think we'd rather have Simmons and picks and/or rights to Clowny/Whitehead and be able to offload Nurk possibly, than take on Herro and nothing else. We wouldn't expect to get much out of Simmons but if we did it would be a happy surprise.

Any trade concept that doesn't have another team paying a decent price to get Herro is dead on arrival, in my opinion, for two reasons:

    1. Blazers CANNOT take him -- it's not that they don't want to, its' that we're already struggling to get value for our version of him, we can't and won't be willing to duplicate those efforts just to get a crappy deal done.
    2. The Heat are already scraping the bottom of their asset barrel to get to something we'd even consider. If they're having to pay someone to take Herro, that's even fewer assets they can trade us. If there's already not enough available assets to get to us for Dame, making that pie smaller to find a Herro taker is moving them in the wrong direction.

    Absolute non-starter.

I'm intrigued by the teams Woj is reporting are willing to give up "a good first +", though...

Veto power? Is that only valid for a year or throughout the duration?

I thought the 1 yr was referring to the rule about not trading to Dallas. But the veto... Wasnt sure. We dealt Allen Crabbe to BK after a similar deadline a few seasons ago.

I mean, sure, they "have" the full 12.4M available (in that it hasn't been used), but you are hard-capped by the apron if you use any of it. So they only "have" 9M usable of the MLE, until or unless they move some other money.
