I found someone who has laid out this whole line of BS on reddit and he has links and such and I will admit that was not exact quote but he did say it in a round about way through other media and such I give credit to the other poster on reddit as he did the work I am just using it to prove to you that this is more on Cronin and co then Dame -- enjoy
Report: Dame was interested in Warriors trade before CP3 move https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nb...lard-nba-trade-request/1638906/?partner=yahoo Is this serious?
The thing is it's COSTING him money. He'll not only make a nice income playing basketball, but he can continue to make good money by marketing. He's destroying that brand equity. It is beyond me why he's being so dumb.
And there have been some reports — that pass the smell test — that Ant and picks were offered for OG this summer. Masai said no. Let’s just assume Cronin actually tried. Actually made overpay offers. Let’s further assume Dame was told, and then he asked for the trade as building around him wasn’t happening. Keeping Matisse and Grant wasn’t enough for Lillard … which is totally reasonable. How big does the swing have to be that it’s not just overpay but not worth keeping Lillard? I don’t have that answer, but my guess is what tips that scale is named Shaedon.
Dame will be fine. To be honest I think this will be forgotten by most people in a year. Not on this message board but by the average fan. Same with those (Haynes) who are trying to say the Blazer FO will be hurt by not gift-wrapping Dame to Miami.
My interpretation of all this is that Dame wanted the team to be transformed into a contender, but the overpays necessary to bring in a star would have left the Blazers no closer to contention. So he is forcing his way to a contender. But as I've said all along, what team can give fair value for Dame and still be a contender? Certainly not Miami. Dame wants to go to Miami, but obviously wouldn't want Miami to be less of a contender due to giving up decent value to get him. Remember all the complaints on here about why the hell was Dame going on his podcast tour and making statements that were clearly tanking Portland's trade leverage? Seems pretty clear to me. Ipso facto: Fuck Portland
Dame is going down the LA and Clyde path with fans. I honestly think when this is all said and done there could be a smattering of boos when Phoenix comes to town.
I'm taking the kid gloves off with the Heat now. They'll give the Blazers what they want AND take those awful teal and black airport carpet uniforms.
If he wants to play for a contender, that list could grow to 8-10 teams. I would have ZERO problem with that, nor could I imagine many fans would either.
Dame could have worked with the Blazers behind the scenes to get him to a team where he could possibly contend, while helping the Blazers with a soft landing via a multi-team deal. Respect and gratitude go both ways. Or not.
Whether we like it or not (and whether or not I buy this Goodwin hogwash), all roads seem to lead back to Miami... And while that may not be ideal, I also don't think it is necessarily a disastrous outcome either in and of itself. What will be disastrous is if we choose to settle with Miami. If we are heading the Miami route, in my view, you'd better be getting the following: Jovic. Jaquez or Martin (if you can get both, great! I am also okay with either player being flipped for future draft compensation as well.). Three firsts from Miami (Miami must figure it out with OKC). At least one additional first and/or a young player with substantial promise from a team taking on Herro. I can certainly understand that this won't be enough for many here, but I can live with this scenario. And if Miami or a third team is unwilling (and no better offers present themselves), I simply sit on Dame until that changes.
