Miami must think Portland is just full of dumb fuck inbred hicks. I can’t remember ever hearing of a deal for a superstar where the equivalent of Duncan Robinson was the second best part of the asset package.
Man, maybe you weren't around for the Batum/Bouma Ndiaye scenario? With the added benefit of the TimberTrolls message board and Dwight Jaynes carrying on the good fight to the (fans) enemy?
I just got completely fed up with the long hair asshole and his filibuster...don't know who he is but fuck that guy
I'm sorry Nate, but I've been convinced for months, maybe years, that if Portland ever started shopping Dame they were going to get a shitty return. Seems inevitable. And the scorched earth campaign Dame is waging is making it worse. There's some bad blood in this situation
Let him keep digging his own PR grave. Eventually Miami will put its best offer on the table. I can’t wait to hear Barkley’s take on this.
Butler was a FA coming off two lackluster seasons where he also had locker room issues. He was considered poison by some at the time. Miami was his third team in a matter of months and like his fourth team in a little over two years.
I don't really get the white flag here. I think the PR was has turned in the Blazers favor. I think the bad blood all is on Dame's side. And I'm not sure why someone would presume we can't get a good return on this just because we've trauma-bonded over the Blazers and are pre-emptively setting ourselves up for the worst to happen.
Yeah I think if we were accepting the shit sandwich we’d already be brushing our teeth. As my gf says, the longer the better.
Lets all keep in mind what an albatross those last two yrs of Dame's contract might be - 58 and over 63 mil the last yr, I think he earns the next two yrs, but those last two could be very ugly as he will be 35/36
I'm not sure about that. both of those seasons are AFTER the new media deal money starts rolling in. I think there will be a lot of salaries in the 60M range by then
I don't agree, I think the league is going to "scale" the increases for the new money deal as opposed to last time, but in any case it's huge for a guy who will be making 120 mil plus the last two years when he's 35/36 Here's the new rules Wiz" "Cap smoothing Salary cap rises will be capped at 10% each year. This rule is notable after what happened in the summer of 2016, when the cap spiked by 32% and chaos ensued. Role players received more lucrative deals than expected, while the Warriors gained enough space to sign Kevin Durant."
I know there will be smoothing but look at the progression of the salary cap: 2023 $136,021,000 2022 $123,655,000 2021 $112,414,000 at that rate, it could be 150-155M next year. Then there is the new media deal bump. I've seen some projection of 170M on the low end and 180M on the high end for 2025-26. It's limited to a 10% increase though. If it's 175M, Dame's salary is around 33% of the cap. 170M it's 34%. 165M it's 35%. The year Dame has a 58M salary, there are already 10 other salaries over 50M and 7 of those are over 53M; there will be a lot more than that in 2 years as max players sign max deals
Come on many, it's gonna be a shit deal the last 2 years no matter how you spin it and it factors in his trade value , no way around it
it's not going to be a great deal. But I think you're overrating how bad it will be. Maybe Dame will not lose that much over the next 4 seasons Curry will be making 59.6M when he's 38; Dame will be making 58.5M when he's 35; Beal will be making 57M when he's 34; Kat will be 61M when he's 33; Booker 61M when he's 31 as far as it factoring in his trade value...sure. That's something teams have to gauge. It's also one of many reasons I've been saying for months that Portland was not going to get a "haul" for Dame. Lots of people here, apparently, were expecting it and it's never been close to realistic expectations
just because people are rightfully sticking up their noses at this bad faith Miami shit sandwich doesn’t mean they’re expecting KD/Gobert-level hauls. Miami is trying to fleece Portland back to the Stone Age. By all accounts the nut high package that heat fans like to parrot online as ‘the best deal’ hasn’t even been offered.
I have seen lots and lots of trade ideas here where the Blazers get back 4-5 first unprotected round picks, a swap or two, and good player(s) like Claxton
Yeah that guy annoys the shit out of me and he has very little of merit to say. He just enthusiastically states a company line. Meanwhile, Broussard keeps it real and has integrity.
