Dame is very concerned about his image and legacy but... Now he should be embarrassed by the garbage being offered for him in a trade. Can he really feel proud to be traded for a package that is centered around Herro? Dame wants to be viewed as a superstar at the level of Durant and Harden, but teams aren't willing to offer anything close to those deals for Dame. He's at risk of being remembered as the guy who was traded for a half-eaten ham sandwich. Maybe a little self reflection would be beneficial for him.
Dame doesn't care because he knows if MIA offered BAM back then he wouldn't have a chance to win a Championship. He wants them to not give up much to us.
Cleveland get: Donovan Mitchell Jazz get: Lauri Markkanen Collin Sexton Ochai Agbaji 3 unprotected FRPs (25, 27, and 29) 2 pick swaps (26 and 28) ------------ Suns get: Kevin Durant TJ Warren Nets get: Mikal Bridges Cameron Johnson Juan Pablo Vaulet 2023 first-round pick (fr Phoenix) 2025 first-round pick (fr Phoenix) 2027 first-round pick (fr Phoenix) 2028 first-round pick swap (fr Phoenix) 2028 second-round pick (fr Milwaukee) 2029 first-round pick (fr Phoenix 2029 second-round pick (fr Milwaukee) Bucks get: Jae Crowder Pacers get: George Hill Serge Ibaka Jordan Nwora 3 future 2nd-round picks (fr Milwaukee) Cash considerations (from Brooklyn) --------- Timberwolves get: Rudy Gobert Jazz get: Malik Beasley Patrick Beverley Leandro Bolmaro Walker Kessler (22nd pick in '22 Draft) Jarred Vanderbilt 2023 first-round pick 2025 first-round pick 2026 pick swap 2027 first-round pick 2029 first-round pick
And POR gets….Tyler fucking Herro? What’s wrong with that scenario? It is impossible to get a good deal with MIA. Facts is facts. They have bad assets on the table. Adding another team just give back three mediocre players for a slightly above mediocre Herro, but without the dopey sneer. so we got that going for us
They should not send him to Miami. They can't come up with much. Even if you add 5 teams, the picks are going to be shit and Herro won't yield much.
Making a Miami deal work for us hinges on two things: 1. Miami giving up everything they have. This means both Jacquez and Jovic, the two picks they have and all swaps, plus amending the protections on their OKC pick to unlock a third first rounder in 2024 for us. 2. Herro being valued by a third team to the extent that he brings in both an additional first and young assets. (E.g., Brooklyn giving up a first plus Whitehead/Clowney). This would bring our haul to 4 firsts plus JJJ, Jovic, and Whitehead/Clowney. This would be the minimum I would accept for a Miami deal. Anything less is a phone hanging up. And if no teams value Herro, sorry, no deal then.
Rather than get win-now assets I think we should just go for as many picks as possible. I don't like Simmons. He seems like a turd. But i do think it's a buy-low asset that turns into an expiring next year. It seems like it could be a value play. If we did something like the below (probably too rich in picks, not sure if the Thunder go for it), I think we could play DFS and Simmons until the deadline and see if they could be flipped for value. DFS is a good character vet that won't take shots from anyone. Ben is crazy but Thybulle and Mills could be helpful for him and maybe get something out of him. Patty may make a good vet mentor to Scoot. The big hole is at center, but we could sign b-ball Paul with the MLE and we're not winning this year anyways. Scoot/Mills Simons/Sharpe Thybulle/(Sharpe/DFS) Grant/DFS Simmons/Reed
Anyone that wants to deal him to MIA 1) is a heat fan >>> blazers fan 2) does not understand arithmetic. 3) perhaps most disturbingly, thinks they know Dame personally based on public image etc. "oh he's a great guy..." Tell you what: Dame does not/would not like you or be your friend. Ever. You have nothing in common. It's like thinking "oh I love john lennon, he and I would have been friends"
I disagree a little bit, Dames value is only lessened because of his stubbornness + lack of assets for the team he's being a diva about going to. The market would be ripe and offers would be higher if he expanded it (I.E. wasn't fucking selfish).
yes on #1, Close on #2 but realistically they are not going to bend over backward to help. I would not count on Clowney or Whitehead. They have lots of picks so maybe 2 picks and Simmons. There has to be a salary coming back in some form. I am fine with taking back Simmons but maybe he gets moved to the 4th team for a pick?
Sure...he can always tell himself that, as a hypothetical. If frogs had wings, etc, etc. But the objective reality will have him recorded as being traded for a bag of popcorn while other true superstars actually returned huge trade packages.
getting two picks from Brooklyn (one for Herro, one to take on Simmons) and thus moving our pick haul to 5 is acceptable to me. I’d push for either Clowney or Finney Smith in addition though.
I don’t think the return package will be as bad as some fear. It really is shocking how badly his representation and Dame are going about this, they might get the end result but why spend 10 years building a rep to destroy it in a week. This villain dame doesn’t have the same appeal.
