Loved hearing the insider tidbits. Sounds like Cronin did make an honest attempt at getting Dame some veteran help, but the asking prices were too high. Interesting because I was watching the Blazers Uprise YouTube channel, and their view is that Cronin didn't really try, and basically lied & broke a promise/verbal agreement to Dame about trading away this year's pick (unless it was #1). Their theory is Cronin/Blazers front office wanted to force Dame to ask for a trade, as to avoid any fan backlash. But according to your podcast, Kolde & Jody wanted to keep Dame. This is fascinating as your podcast and Blazers Uprise both claim to have some little bits of insider knowledge, and yet your respective viewpoints are antithetical. Blazers Uprise has a clear bias in favor of Dame and his camp, and are trashing Cronin as a lying, cheating, backstabbing snake who is trying to turn the fan base against Dame. It's nice to have an opposing perspective here with Wash City. Wished I knew the truth, but like Rashomon, I guess truth is dependent on who you ask.
It also sounds like one podcast tries to deal in the real world, and the other deals in the old adage "if it bleeds it leads".
Doubtful anyone will even know 100% for sure. We just talked about things we did know and applied them to situation. There is some extrapolation involved of course, but we tried to not get too emotionally involved and instead, just talk about things we had been made aware of and how they fit. Now, did they try to make deals, but maybe Cronin at least, was also prepared to go a new direction if that is what happened? Very likely. Keeping Dame, adding Grant's contract, adding another piece if they were able to do so that would have require a massive extension going forward, would have really hamstrung the roster for some time without IMO, that likely of a chance of being a legit contender. Since Joe didn't have control over what other teams would offer, it would only make sense to be ready for either path. To paraphrase Johnny Cochran, "If he made a try, it was not a lie."
Great job fellas! If ever need a guest in the future, I might could be persuaded to join in. Just will need to do a sober check on me before we go live mind
I was talking to a friend about this very mindset (the knee jerk reactionary stuff). It is what fans do a lot of, and neither of us need to see that in podcasts. It's why I hate Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless and shit like that. Even more so are the people who have a very condescending attitude and smugness against others because they "know" more than you or claim they have "inside info". Even worse are the people who PURPOSELY edit or leave out massive amounts of context from a statement or a video because it fits their narrative to a T. (and before anyone thinks I'm only talking about certain people, I'm talking about it in general terms. I.e., politics, sports, religions, etc)
Oooh, this gives me an idea!! @Natebishop3 you should do a 'cast with HCP and do a drinking game so that every time he mentions NEP, Grant High School or shoes, you have to take a shot. Your liver might disown you after 10 minutes.
Nice Job. Professional and smooth. Wished Nate had asked Tpup a little bit more on D69's opinions of Amen twins and Murray and Rupert.
I didn’t watch the whole thing, but what I watched was good other than the complete lack of anything MM
