Haynes is saying Detroit may be in on getting Tyler Herro from Miami to help facilitate the trade. There are some reasons that might fit better for Portland, than what BRK or SAS can offer. (other teams that have been mentioned for Herro)

Herro in Detroit really doesn't make sense for me, tbh. They have Cade and Ivey already, and just drafted another guy in Ausar who needs the ball to be effective.

but someone like Duren could be interesting.

Now my hopes are up for Duren. Why do I feel like Wiseman will be more likely though.

Dame was just on IG Live and he looks like he’s been through it this past week. I still feel like he never wanted to leave but Cronin and the franchise left him no choice.

My genuine feeling is that Dame wasn't giving the team a choice, and the team didn't give Dame a choice. This breakup has been coming for a long time.

Joe said it and I 100% agree. Scoot was worth way more than what was available in trade. I think Joe was really trying, but we can't trade Scoot for OG Anunoby. I'm not sure if Jaylen Brown was ever on the table, or what the ask was, but whatever it was..... things didn't come together. But I just don't think we could build a contender around Dame at this point. It was really in everyone's best interest to part ways. Nobody wanted to pull the trigger.

The problem was, it wasn't just Scoot for OG. It was 2-3 other pieces as well....no way!

would you trade Simons + Scoot for Mikal Bridges? Because that's what Dame wanted.

the Heat don't have a 2026 pick to trade. Fanspo is wrong about that. Blazers could get a 2029 swap with Miami though

I'd try to send Martin somewhere else as well.

I agree with you 100%. It’s just so unfortunate it ended this way. Just a few weeks ago, I was thinking how unceremonious it was to see Ant’s last games as a Blazer tanking on the bench. But that was turned upside down and now we are left with Dame’s last games as a Blazer tanking on the bench. Never thought this is how the Dame era would end.

Unfortunately this is what happens when nobody wants to be the bad guy and people are comfortable. Dame was comfortable. The Blazers were comfortable. Nobody wanted to make the first move. It reminds me of that scene from Jerry Maguire where Renee Zellweger is breaking up with Tom Cruise.

"My need to make the best of things and your need to be responsible.... if one of us doesn't say something about it now, we could lose 10 years.... being polite."

I think this could realistically happen once JJJ is allowed to be traded and the Heat make arrangements with OKC to guarantee the pick they owe them for 2026. We get some vet leaders on the bench who have expiring contracts and give Wiseman a year to try out.

A buddy and I had a discussion involving similar players. They could have easily had Wiseman last year, but took the multiple 2nd round picks instead. I don't believe Miami can trade that 2024 pick unless some restrictions are removed from a pick owed to OKC. Detroit would be an EC team that might take Herro, because as we talked about on the 'podcast', why would contending teams in the East help the Heat be better than them?

Yeah I know we could have had Wiseman but I think we are probably in a different mode now than we were then. I mentioned that the Heat would have to work things with the Thunder to free up their first next year.

As far as EC teams who could be suitable places for Herro, I still think Brooklyn could be interested because I think they would be competitive next season but really they'd have a squad with a window that would really be after Miami's closes.

left him no choice? Nah. Hard disagree. There were always two choices.

I'd want to find an earlier pick than 2028. that 2024 pick is probably gonna suck and i'd like a solid 25 pick to go with the growth of scoot/shae

And how the hell did I not know Wiseman was on the Pistons? How did I miss that? lol.

Detroit is a weird "reality" fit... We passed on Wiseman and have likely passed on Bagley countless times; they're not trading Cunningham, it's REALLY hard to see them including Ausar or Duren in this kind of deal; we don't need Ivey (plus I doubt they'd trade him)...

Who would we want from them? I guess I could see Schmitz having some interest in Killian Hayes and he seemed to somewhat turn a corner last year. Stewart is kinda interesting, I guess? Bojan and Burks' salaries certainly help and their picks are certainly more appealing. Just feels like either a dud of a player or a surprise of a player with not a lot of reasonable "fits" to be found on their roster...
