You better be right, man! I've already got somebody on twitter who is always teasing with something like "Ukraine will have big surprise for the russians tomorrow".
I can't believe how sick I am of this guy. "Be that broke mf" - gimme a friggin break. One thing we know about Dame is that he didn't name himself Dame Dolla for no reason.
I have been defending Dame like crazy but even this post has given me pause cause maybe he could have made more money in endorsements in a bigger market but he sure as hell is not broke. I really hope he is trolling the haters right now or something but even I cannot defend that tweet IF he means it.
Stayed true? As in past tense? He's no different than anyone else. He doesn't have that to hang his hat on anymore. Him playing the victim absolutely does not work and never will again.
So what will come out at some point soon, thought today, was that the Blazers are operating on the assumption Dame will be back to start the season
that seems realistic at this point the way Dame and his agent handled the first week or two of this situation cratered Dame's trade value for the rest of the league besides Miami. And Miami, if reports are accurate, spent way too much time trying to low-ball the Blazers and essentially steal Dame for 30% of value because they thought they could steamroll a rookie GM I'm sure Portland would prefer to trade Dame, but they sure don't seem inclined to trade him for a shit return
could be they are operating under the assumption that Dame's agent so misplayed his hand that the well for a Dame trade this summer was poisoned. I mean, it's been 6 weeks and I'm sure they have seen the quality of the offers
That's what I have been hoping for. In August, no team is the league is going to give up much for Dame. Everyone thinks they have a playoff team. Detroit, Houston, San Antonio. Even Charlotte and Washington have "hope" to start the season. However, there is no Wembanyama in the 2024 draft and by the trade deadline there will be plenty of teams tired of losing, looking for a way to make the jump to the next level, whether it's just making the playoffs or being a "contender." Their goal doesn't need to be realistic from the Trail Blazers' point of view - look at the Gobert trade - it just has to be good for the Trail Blazers.
I'm not so sure Cronin wants to trade Dame. Cronin might be thinking if the team starts the season well, that Dame will be OK staying in Portland.
I don't believe for a second that Portland wants to keep Dame. They simply do not want to give him away for shit. I expect the league to try to get involved. They do not want another Sprewell situation where the team just sits the player. He wasn't allowed at the practice facility I believe. I think an arbitrator ruled GSW had to play him or something and then they quickly traded him. Lillard will fein an injury before playing for the Blazers again. There is no happy ending unless Dame is shipped out.
I'd rather have Dame be "injured" for 4 years than get screwed in a Dame trade. Fuck that bullshit. Give 'em hell Cronin.
We didn’t get anything for LMA and it massively set us back. And that was for the same reason. A GM that refused to move him. I’m not entirely sure how much value Dame has anymore, but we can’t afford to get nothing for him and the clock is ticking.
Thank you for helping me solidify my feelings on this. I keep listening to people on the radio and podcasts and reading articles about what might happen with Dame and until just now it never occurred to me that it was boring. It's like one of those critically acclaimed movies you really wanna like cause other people say it's good. I want it to be intriguing or exciting or whatever. But it just isn't. I'm gonna buy a few books and not pay attention to any of this until I'm done reading those.
