"look at what Brooklyn got for KD" "look at what Brooklyn got for Irving" ummm... It looks like the Nets must have had 0 draft assets before those trades, and I highly doubt Brooklyn will trade their entire future just to dump Ben Simmons bad contract on Portland.
I was a big fan of trying to trade CJ for Ben a couple years ago. Now, not so much. But you gotta risk it to get the biscuit.
Wut? I mean is your angle here sticking it to Riley, Goodwin and the Heat Media/Fans? I mean I really want to stick it to the Heat, but not quite that badly. We need Whitehead, Clowney and at least 2 firsts.
I'd like it if they took Dame and Nurk. Send us Ben, Whitehead and Clowney and send us all three Suns FRPs. Nurk fits into either of their two giant TPEs, so the trade would work. If they were serious about contending immediately they would send two or three more of their tradeable FRPs to Indy for Buddy Hield. They end up with a rotation of Dame, Hield, Bridges, Johnson, Claxton, Dinwiddie, DFS, Nurk and O'Neal. That's a contender. We end up with something like Scoot, Shae, Whitehead, Jerami, Simmons, Ant, Matisse, Clowney, Murray and would probably want to add a young big in free agency.
I think his angle is making the Blazers competitive. Simmons's contract is no longer bad....if he is on the court. But you could say that about Dame as well. A starting lineup of Ant, Sharpe, Grant, Simmons, and Nurk would be interesting to watch IMO. That is 3 solid shooters surrounding Ben. Then you have Scoot coming off the bench with Thybulle, Little, and Walker/Murray Adding Clowney and/or Whitehead would certainly make it better, but you are not going to get a haul of draft picks plus both of those rookies. If I were Brookylen I sure as hell wouldn't give away my whole future for Dame. I am not sure Brooklyn even wants to move Ben. But if they did I would jump on it. I would settle for Ben, Clowney, and 1 first.
lol....so, after weeks talking about how shitty the return for Dame would be in a Miami trade, some of you think Ben Simmons as the centerpiece of a Dame trade is much better? crazy
Well, there was a 3 minute video of him dining and hitting 3's, so his issues are clearly all resolved now!
I’d rather take a massive flyer on Simmons instead of getting Jovic and Jaquez. I don’t think either of those two players are going to be anything special.
that's fine....but they wouldn't be the centerpiece(s) of a Miami trade Simmons is not a prize...he'd be the salary filler won't matter, I don't think the Nets have any intention of trading for Dame
So who is the centerpiece in a Miami trade? Herro? I would much prefer a point forward who can pretty much defend 95% of the league.
Yeah, the idea that we could get Simmons, Whitehead, Clowney and three unprotected firsts from Brooklyn is better than the idea of getting Herro, Jaquez, Jovic, three unprotected firsts and salary filler from Miami. The problem is when @KingSpeed starts talking about Simmons for Dame "straight up".
a PF who has played 157 games in the last 4 seasons and missed 152 a PF who has clearly shown he's willing to sit out if he doesn't like his situation a PF who obviously has some serious mental issues a PF who has a bad back that may very well be a chronic problem I don't have a problem rolling the dice on Simmons, but he's sure the fuck not the kind of primary value the Blazers should chase in a Dame trade. Like I said, he's salary filler
You forgot a few: 3× NBA All-Star (2019–2021) All-NBA Third Team (2020) 2× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2020, 2021) Everything you said is true but if he is now healthy, Brooklyn is not treating him as a salary filler, nor should they. Early on I was hoping Herro and a Miami pick could get us Simmons, (plus Jaquez, and Jovic) But he played well for the Nets last year until he got hurt and I doubt they are dumping him if they think he is healthy.
as I said in my initial post on this: I don't think the Nets have any intention at all of trading for Dame. They had completely mortgaged their future for Harden/Durant/Kyrie and Sean Marks was able to get 7 first round picks, a swap, and 3 second round picks for dumping that trio. I can't believe he'd want to give up a bunch of those picks for 33 years old Dame
I agree with you on this. As I said I wouldn't give away the future either if I were the Nets, but I would consider just Simmons and one of their two first-round rookies since they are so deep at forward.
