Oh okay. I missed that Cronin interview, I guess. That certainly makes sense then. Damn that guy is transparent. And now, the Joe-is-a-liar stuff seems like even more of a stretch.
I think it really was some kind of ludicrous trade idea. I would like Dame to be more specific about what no-brainer trade that Cronin turned down. Otherwise, it's him saying "Joe didn't make a horrible trade to keep me happy, now I want out."
Sure, anything is possible and maybe they’ve had a discussion already or a few of them? Maybe they haven’t for whatever reason. Blazers are not obligated to work with Dame, but they will, at some point.
I think the guy must be going through something. He doesn't resemble the Dame he has been, not just here, but at Weber State. Strange.
Cronin hasn’t traded Lillard despite Miami acting like he’s their most important priority with an offer that has intimidated other teams into shocked silence … all so that we could have this 278 page thread. Go Joe! Hold out for 300! Get Riles to pay for free soda for the team for the next two years. Having to pay a buck for each Coke is shameful!
Which is concerning to me. Who knows what is in his head and how he will interact with teammates and even how he will play. It is easy to say "Dame is a pro and he will ball out." Nobody knows. If he is going through personal shit as some are speculating, he will most assuredly be fighting bouts of depression and despair. Never easy. This is where a change of scenery is obviously better for him if speculation is true. I have zero idea if true or not. But he certainly does not resemble the all seem to know.
The talk in here right now is crazy. Dame is the same dude. He has always talked about staying true to the person that he is and not giving a fuck what other people think. Why he's no longer loyal to this team is obvious. He said if the team goes young the team is choosing youth over him and the team went young. So what loyalty does Dame have left after that? He just has loyalty to his values. Obviously Dame saying ahead of time that if the team didn't trade the pick(s) that he wouldn't be going down that path could have hurt the team's ability to trade the pick(s) so he's not blameless but watch any YouTube video of him at his formula zero camp this summer, he's the same dude. He's going to try and impact every situation he finds himself in, in a positive way. That's who he is. I get it that people are disappointed that the one guy who always wanted to be here no longer does but that's not fully on him and that change doesn't signify that he's somehow a completely different person now. Oh and for the record many people in here are misquoting his Marc Spears interview (not surprising since some are saying it was Marc Stein). The dude didn't say "loyal to myself" that's pure bullshit. Dame said "I'm loyal to who I am." and that's not the first time he's said that sentence. It means staying true to himself and his values and again not caring what others have to say about that.
The best part and only good part about all this is the self appointed experts crawling out of the woodwork. With all their sources and inside info, correcting people daily about what’s right and wrong because of their vast knowledge on this topic. I don’t think we realize how lucky we are to have them be a part of our little forum here. All I’ll say is if Dame is sent off, I will miss him. Not just for the player he has been for us, but the way he represented not only my favorite team and city. Quality dude! Totally understand him having a desired landing spot, but understandably the team has to do what’s best for the team. Not a ground breaking opinion on this, but that’s how I feel. Alright back to the insiders!
What the fuck else would I be talking about? I don't know the dude. I'm not trying to talk about some bullshit rumors about his personal life or parse out the same shit he's been saying for his entire career as something completely different now, that's other people. All any of us have to judge is "his public persona" because we don't know him! I was just saying that all of the nonsense in here that Dame has made some 180 degree villainous turn is outlandish and more of the same jilted lover bullshit that I've been reading from a lot of people here since July 1st. To me he seems like the same dude that he's been since we all started to hear from him over a decade ago. That's all.
Again, if Joe struck out on deals (if there were any serious possibilities) his ace in the hole is go young, as it gives him the opportunity to take 3-5 years in build mode. Dame made it clear what path he would and would not go down, and Im sure Joe from day one on the job was trying to convince Dame of his intentions. Joe is learning on the Job just as Chauncey is too. They both benefit with a rebuild.
