No, I think he is a very good and versatile defender with potential to be elite.
I wouldn't trade him straight up. But I like Barnes as a headliner far more than Jovic and/or Vasquez. He at least has shown two way potential. And very good playmaking out of the wing position.

that's fine. I got into this because people were saying. or at least implying, that Barnes would be about the best return for Dame they could imagine. As long as he came with another decent player, plus expiring filler, PLUS at least a couple of future first's, and a swap. Maybe then

as for Jovic/Jaquez, that we're even debating their value in a Dame trade shows how shitty a Miami trade would be

I think he's about the best CENTERPIECE of a deal that seems realistic at this point.

Agreed. Doubt Masai trading him is though.

We drafted Kris and Rayan based on potential. In exchange for Dame, we should get a LEGIT starter 4 or 5

I view Grant as 3 because of hia poor rebounding

Easier said than done. What team has a LEGIT 4/5 that would also be in the market for Dame?

Multi-team trade allows a team with a legit 4/5 who has no interest in Dame get value in return

A lot of these things won't be known until the season is underway and some teams find themselves behind where they expected.

Can you give some examples of legit 4s or 5s?

I'd be interested to see what you think was an option, if Barnes isn't considered a legit 4, who better than him do you realistically think we can get from a 3rd team?

I think people are being unrealistic about what kind of value Dame actually has right now. I also think they're not factoring in that this team is at square one in a rebuild.... maybe square two since we have Scoot and Sharpe so we're not building from complete scratch. We just need young talented players. The position is sort of irrelevant.

I mean, ideally it is a 3/4/5 brought in, but I agree, we're ahead of a full tear down, because we've already found 2 guys we think can be cornerpieces. Usually teams start off searching for that.

If Dame's value is so low in a trade, there's no reason to trade him.

Honestly I just think we need assets, whether that's more young prospects or draft picks we just need to get the best assets we can for Dame and then after watching how our prospects play this season move forward from there. I also think we should pick up some high character vets either as salary filler in the Dame trade or on vet min contracts, so someone is around who can show our young hopefully future stars how to be pros.

It's a good list but Miller is a reach as a 4 and Mathurin just doesn't belong.

    I support this.

Giannis has hinted on not extemding making him available in 2 years

    Embiid could ask out soon

Any teams acquiring Dame will be hurting their chances at those two should they become available.

It's going to be a very interesting season!
Lots of new talent from the 2022 and 2023 drafts along with a new reigning first-time NBA champion.

    Okay..........

So what do you do with Scoot? With Sharpe? With Ant?

Let's say I have season tickets, but I need to move away from Portland. There's 15 games left in the season and I want to sell those 15 games. Would you say that I have a limited time to sell them for any value before they're worthless? And as the season wears down, the value that I can extract from those tickets will continue to go down?

Dame is 33. He himself says that he maybe only has 3 seasons where he will continue to play at a high level. Do you think his value will go up, stay the same, or go down as he continues to age?
