Marks should recuse himself from reporting on Dame because dude blew his career making the Wallace/#6 trade

As a fan I want this over with.

If I were Joe I'd wait out Miami until the market develops.

25-26 is a 19.9M ETO, which I seriously doubt he'd exercise, so 2 years guaranteed, but 3 years for all practical purposes.

As they say "sometimes the best trades are the ones you didn't make". If I were the blazers, announce to the league you are keeping him as he's one of the top 10 players in the league and he's more valuable staying here. Turn off the Miami speculation....

What’s the offer. THAT matters. If their “best offer” is Lowry and 2 firsts then I’d keep Lillard. Let him know the offer was ass and tell him we’d be happy to trade him for close to fairish value

If the offer includes Jovic, Martin and multiple firsts then I’d move him

He's not that bad either when the team is moving the ball and pushing the pace.

I don't really care about this years salaries as it all has to somewhat match in trades. But next year its 19.4 and the following year 19.9. I don't want to be paying Duncan Robinson until 2026. Better to have Lowry expiring or just hold out for better Dame trades.

The offer is in bold at the start of the first post.

We will never know an actual offer as those are always private or unconfirmed. An ESPN front page article as listed here is as close as we'll get.

I feel like if we put the screws to Miami and that would mean we'd have to get legit offers from Toronto and/or Brooklyn, then I think this trade could really happen. I'd even back off of the Heat's 2024 pick if needed. I realize this puts us into the tax but we could address that with another trade, I know our ownership isn't paying taxes for a rebuilding team.

If the Blazers could get 5 firsts 2 swaps plus Jovic and Jaquez then hell yes they should do that. Thats much different than what is in the ESPN article.

Yeah..the premise that Herro and Martin would return Simmons and 2 firsts seems a tad unrealistic.

Edit: If Brooklyn would be willing to do that, Miami should just make that deal and go into the season with Lowry/Butler/Robinson/Simmons/Bam. That team's defense would be stifling.

Sounds like the Heat don't want to give up Martin or that 3rd pick. It also would require a 4th team in OKC to agree to modifications.

I doubt Brooklyn would want to give up those two firsts. They also might not want to assist in Dame going to Miami as it helps a rival and removes the possibility of them getting Dame.

Yes I pull that trigger from Portland's end.

I'm not presuming the non-Bam offer is realistic, I'm including it because its roughly the max of what Miami could do for Dame sans Bam. Taking Nurk, sending out Martin, Herro and the 2 young players.

Where it would land is somewhere in between the far right and the far left. But those are the two technical poles.

I think Herro and Martin are each worth a first and I still think Ben has to have neutral value both around the league and to the Nets who actually cut salary in this move and will have a lot of cap space next summer. Ben put out the same kind of workout videos last off season and the proceeded to be a non factor when the season came.

Obviously I have no actual idea what any of these players' values are but I think it's reasonable that Herro and Martin would be the Nets starting back court and that would be worth Simmons and two firsts.

What the hell. Nurk is not a cancer.
He's one of the players who will benefit from a shift to more pushing the pace and ball movement on offense.

In the last game of last season before The Tank, Nurk shot 7-12 in Utah against the celebrated Walker Kessler.
The team played great in the absence of Anfernee Simons, giving Dame and Sharpe a chance to play without him.
If there was a "cancer" in the offense, it was Simons who wasn't missed at all.

Check out this Dime Nurkic drops to Dame darting to the hoop. THIS is what Jusuf Nurkic is all about. He's not the one stagnating or dumbing-down the offense.
Then Dame returns the favor to Nurkic on the next highlight.

Watch this entire video and tell me you see a cancer.
I see a pretty good rebounder who loves to pass to cutters.

I think patience is still the move for Marks. The contract length isn't that bad anymore and there's still a very outside chance he's not terrible next year. They can always deal him at the deadline when the contract is even shorter.

I don't think Brooklyn would do the Heat any favors but if they see this team they are building as having their contending window opening up in a few years while getting playoff experience now, then I doubt they care if the Heat are good for the next couple of seasons and then fall off. It just depends on what they think of Herro and Martin, if they think their future starting lineup is Herro, Martin, Bridges, Johnson, Claxton then I think the two firsts and ending the Ben Simmons experiment would make sense for them.

Here is a possession that shows what ball movement can do for Nurkic and the Blazers, and why I think Dame and Scoot should be a very effective backcourt.

The hockey assist is set up for Dame to pass to Watford, then to Nurkic. Scoot will look for that same pass that Watford made.

Scoot will likely have many options after that pass from Dame.

The next highlight shows the Blazers making passes from Dame to Thybulle to Nurkic to Watford for a layup. Who doesn't love this kind of Blazer basketball?
