Yikes, that is some bleak shit. I don't blame you though we've never seen anyone like Dame, the guy we did see no longer exists and this might have set a precedent for no one ever being like him again. but we hope we get a good return and that these young players we have develop and gel and never have to have their metal tested the way Dame's was time after time after time after time ad nauseam until it broke.
I think some of us are already prepared to be disappointed. I don't expect Ayton to come here, and I suspect the Blazers will give up a few more assets (like a Nassir) and get nothing of great value in return and continue to be an undersized shit show.
Well, I'm glad you're not being serious because I personally want Miami to choke horribly and for us to send Dame to literally anywhere else. Trade him for a 2nd to the Lakers at this point gawd. ANYWHERE but Miami.
I do wonder how long it'll be before the national media will start the rumblings that Shaedon and Scoot should try to leave Portland for New York, LA or Miami.
Oh probably seconds after Dame is traded if he goes to Miami, see that's what the "Just take Miami's offer" people don't get. This means we can NEVER build a team, EVER. Because the instant the ink is dry on an extension that player is gone. How people can't see that is WAY BEYOND ME. It's frying pan to the face obvious, hence why the League hasn't really clamped down on this shit show, but wrist slapped Dame with a toothless rebuke. The League WANTS this to happen. It solves their whole, good players in bad markets problem.
Not to get into that discussion, but it's so obvious the league doesn't give a shit about 75% of the league. LA, Warriors, Phoenix, Miami, Dallas, NY, Brooklyn and Boston are the only teams that the league cares about (and even that list has it's own step sisters of the poor).
I'm wondering if it makes sense for us to eat Duncan Robinson contract instead of Lowry deal? Have Miami give up all of Herro, Martin, Jacquez, Jovic, 2 firsts unprotected, 2 swaps unprotected. Getting out of the DR deal really helps the Heat avoid tax and I think we can take it on while staying out of the tax ourselves. Only two more years after this year. It actually just replaced Nurk deal, Ayton deal is much less than Lillards, so we're still saving money. Then we can get all those other assets from Miami instead of them keeping 1 or 2 of them. We can likely then get Ayton for just Nurk Martin without having to give them a pick. Can get a great pick for Herro too, and use that to guarantee the 2027 swap.
If this is the trade, plus a couple of unprotected swaps... I'm ready for it. I do think it would lead to another trade because I don't think there's any fucking way that this team will be in the tax during a rebuild but if this is what goes down with Dame and Nurk outgoing then I could live with it. If it's worse than this I'll be pretty upset.
Herro isn't worth Sochan. The 2027 Atlanta pick is a very valuable unprotected pick. Also fits great with the structure of the Heat deal as it guarantees a swap. Sure if we can get more then do it, I doubt Herro has value for much more though.
