Good luck trying to get 3 1sts from Masai. 2 would be realistic. But I do think we could get 2-3 1sts for OG.

Memphis was apparently willing to give up a young prospect and ‘multiple 1sts’ for OG at the deadline.

Some mediocre players also get paid. It's imperative not to pay the mediocre players star salaries.

Taking this approach with OG is playing with fire imo. UFA, so unless have a deal set in place like we did with Ant, Nurk, and Grant, I’d be semi-worried. I would really root to lose this year, which could possibly result in OG leaving.

I don’t really know how to feel. I could be swayed either direction, but I’m leaning towards more 1sts.

Draft is MUCH weaker this year so there is very little incentive to tank.

Just try to win and develop the young guys. If we look up in February and have a ton of losses worry about tanking then.

So you're suggesting OG is a mediocre player?

Portland will overpay like they always do so I think he'll stay.

I could be swayed either direction, I’m just worried about the guy not re-signing here. I love OG.

And the injury concerns are always going to worry me as well. The life of a Blazers fan, am I right?

Everyone we get in the post-Dame era won't work. It rarely happens that way. We need to acquire as much talent and see what works and what doesn't. If OG doesn't work out, we give him the money and move him like we'll do with Grant. He has a lot of value.

So Jake Fischer says Toronto is currently the frontrunner in pursuit of Dame.

Way too much noise about this lately. Don't think it's a coincidence that Amick also had an article today about how Dame does not want to go there.

the dame argument against Toronto is a tricky one for him. The literal last time masai did a move like this his team immediately won a chip.

I'm watching a Raptors fan who is a Youtuber who is saying he'd give up Barnes for Dame. I actually think giving up Barnes makes more sense than giving up OG from their perspective.

as for Dame not wanting Toronto....are there any tax accountants here?

I ask because of the 216M dollars Dame is owed: no state tax in Florida; Dame could save 15-20M in tax between Oregon and Florida. I'd imagine the taxes for him in Canada might be higher

Just a quick look, but he would pay about $14.4 M Canadian on the half of his salary he would earn from the 41 home games. That’s 10.6M in US dollars and it includes both Federal and provincial taxes.

Well I do have a CPA.... it's only half his NBA salary that taxable in Canada, yes obviously less in a no tax state like FL or TX. People normally overstated this benefit though. If Dame claimed residence in Florida he could save on all non basketball income taxes too.

Dame would get a huge credit for his US taxes for most of what he pays Canada so it's not nearly that much. But yes more than Florida.

Dame has really backtracked from his, 'I just want a chance to compete and win' comments. Not wanting to go to Toronto to play with Siakam, Barnes, Poetl, Trent, Schroeder, Achiuwa, etc? That is a pretty solid line-up. Certainly an opportunity to compete.

So he wasn't being straight up before?

Would Toronto trade the OG package for the Miami package? Would Miami?

Maybe. I think OG for Herro, Jovic, Jaquez and two picks is fair value. But OG isn’t even in the same universe as Dame.

But Toronto would probably give up Dick, a pick, Boucher so it's not just OG. Seems like Toronto net package is clearly superior, right?

First off nice name, I read Tiger when I was like 16 and loved it.

There's a problem with this but I'll start by saying that Raps fans would love it. They are willing to trade OG and they are not sold on Dick as of right now, not totally at least (also, is it only 30-days from signing a rookie contract? that has lapsed if so, the trade moratorium). They think it was a low-ceiling pick. With that being said, if Giannis is at all available, Ujiri will surely spend his assets there.
