I think of it this way: Was their team good enough to win a title before the trade? No. Is their team good enough to win a title now? Maybe. or you can swap in "... to keep Giannis..." instead of "... to win a title...". Either way, they needed to change something to get over the hump, and I can se how they think Dame might be the answer.
I'm betting the Bucks traded for Dame to keep Giannis, or at least keep him happy. And Dame ain't chopped liver.
Lonzo Ball is major negative value. It would take a 1st to dump him Jrue is major positive value Blazers would need their own pick back, an unprotected 1st (or top-5 protected), another lottery protected first, Williams and filler
Shopping Dame to the East to form the most unstoppable duo for, by reputation, a Dame-stopper, and then making an East team potentially have to overpay for that Dame-stopper would lowkey be a genius move. Cronin will earn my silence if he pulls that trade off.
I don’t know why OKC would trade very much for Dame. The road through the West is much harder, and Holiday doesn’t put them over the top. It’s going to be an East team that wants him to guard Dame.
I'd do Lonzo, Patrick Williams, our pick back and probably both the Bulls '28 and '30 FRPs. Every team that thought they had a chance in hell at Dame and were blindsided by the Bucks getting him are right now in a bidding war for Jrue.
I would do that as well. You already had your young backcourt. You got Ayton. You would have PWill, who I was really high on (not #4 that year high though), so why not bring him on. You would still have Ant and Grant. AND you free up our 1sts and got us 3 more? Cronin, you dirty dog.
Yeah that was a bad decision but RoCo had never been an all star, RoCo hadn't just been the starting PG on the team who had the best record in the Eastern Conference who probably only got knocked out of the playoffs because their best player was injured. Yeah, I think that we need at least two future firsts for Jrue but not because we made a bad deal for a far lesser player.
Brogdon, Horford, and 2 unprotected 1sts get it done for me. And I’m not entirely convinced we would shop him either. He’s a good player but would be on his fourth team. I love keeping him as a third guard behind Scoot and Shae unless we could get a 1st out of him. Horford, solid vet and someone who is reliable at the 5 behind Ayton.
More is being worked on. It might not be official for a day or two. Am pressed for time, but will try to get into more of it on YouTube tonight.
Change Horford for Timelord and we get our PF whi is still young, who can rebound and we can slide Grant to SF. Timelord, Brogdon, 2 UFRPs fo Jrue
