"We talked all summer about the constrictions on the Dame market. Those are all gone with Jrue. He's as plug and play of a guy as there is in the league."
How do we feel about Kuminga? Sounds like he and Chris Paul can be sacrificed along with additional pieces for Holiday.
If Holiday is traded to the Celtics, I very much prefer the ‘26 and ‘28 unprotected 1sts, and a pick swap in ‘27 added would be even better. There is a scenario where we are very good by ‘26-‘27. I know that eventually, that 1st will convey, but we would be smack dab in the backcourt’s prime with these picks: ‘26: unprotected BOS 1st, assume our 1st goes to CHI (1) ‘27: the better of a BOS/POR 1st (1) ‘28: BOS unprotected 1st, the better of a MIL/POR 1st (2) ‘29: unprotected MIL 1st, POR 1st (2) ‘30: the better of a MIL/POR 1st (1) Ant and Grant 1sts can spread throughout the rest of the decade. There is a lot of draft capital that can be built up by the time Scoot and Shae can really contend.
Not anyone they would be willing to give up (McDaniels). Plus they gave up everything in that Gobert deal.
Would you trade Jrue to Minnesota for KAT? The salaries match perfectly, and it gets them out of a massive contract. Also gives them a real PG and solidifies roles. Lets Edwards be the real star, and makes the Gobert fit better. I assume they'd get commitment from Jrue to re sign. If KAT doesn't work in Portland you probably could still flip him for value. Our twin towers of Ayton and KAT might fit a little better as Ayton has more offensive game. I guess it's probably too risky and crazy for both sides....but it's interesting to think about.
KAT and Gobert didn’t work, I can say with 99.8% certainty KAT and Ayton won’t work. We’re trying to field a team together, not play real life 2k.
Was listening to the Windhorst pod and got too hyped. They called the market for Holiday, "fervent." And that the bidding war has already begun with a deadline of Sunday. They joked that no less than 20 teams would make an offer for Jrue. If we don't extract at least two good picks out of this, it would be a major disappointment for me after all this hype.
Multiple national media people brought up this idea. I don't think we are interested due to his contract.
Reminds me of trading Strickland for Rasheed Wallace, which worked out really well. We need a PF to put next to Grant, so Sharpe can play SG. We'd have 4/5ths of a young core after this move.
