Don't see how Collins fits with Lauri. Utah just got Collins for a salary dump as well as a pick, I wouldn't think they value him super highly. Not sure how Utah could fit into this except for taking on Herro for an asset.
Threw together a hasty live stream. Crappy audio because I was in such a hurry that I didn't move the mic closer to me. Oops.
Our thoughts on the trade and Jrue. https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/...isodes/What-happens-with-Jrue-Holiday-e29sq2a
btw, I'm kinda digging @Natebishop3 's trade idea with G-State. I don't recall the players involved from Gstate (that they'd keep I mean), but it involved shipping CP3 to Boston for some players and picks. Might as well fleece *two* teams if we can! If I'm Portland, I'd send Jrue to G-State for CP3, and get unprotected picks in the future (similar to what they did with Milwaukee, two swaps, 1 direct, but all unprotected). Then dump CP3 to Boston for players + at least 2 picks (no swaps tho, it's less likely that Boston will be bad by then). Making it possible for Portland to get 1 automatic pick from the Bucks, 1 automatic pick from the Warriors, 2 automatic picks from the Celtics, and 4 swap potential picks.
Portland is a great environment for Ayton. Those Phoenix fans are mean !! Too much pressure to win. Deandre can play without tension. Just focus on helping his team, not an entire City.
I heard the Miami owner is cheap. The Heat already let good players walk. Miami is still in luxury tax. They'd have to cut a lot of salary to acquire Jrue. Even Buddy Hield at 20m is too expensive for the Heat. Are the Pacers dumb enough to give up 3 players for Tyler Herro? Maybe, who knows, they have kids running around with knives in Indiana cornfields.
Talking about Brogdon and other such things! https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/blazermetrics/episodes/Where-will-Brogdon-go-e2a1tic
the Blazers burned out after 6 weeks of "win-now" mode. Portland was playing HARD to start last season. The reserve unit was "incomplete". Basically remnants of the previous year's tank, with rookie Shaedon & fake Blazer Gary Payton Jr. The Starters were playing TOO MANY MINUTES. When a couple injuries to role players began accumulating, Portland was getting smoked in games. The intensity turned off after December. Hustle factor hit rock bottom. A cake walk home schedule in January saw the Blazers getting hammered, 6-9 record. I know everyone here despises Lillard, but Dame said when he returned to lineup from early season 3 week calf injury, the Blazers just didn't play as hard as beginning of the season. I watched all the games, Lillard wasn't talking smack just to be a jerk. Lazy Blazer ball was everywhere. ______ Nobody wants to say it... but Billups lost his team. His players had checked out. Now a lot of them are gone, and Chauncey has some new Blazers to coach. We'll see if the new Blazers buy into the system. The NBA season is long and grueling. If chemistry and comrodery begins to faulter for the 3rd straight season ... there are other NBA coaches. Teams change out coaching staffs all the time. It's a slighty dramatic ordeal to bring in a new coaching staff, but not an uncommon event.
Roster imbalance... it's a sneaky way to stealth tank. Worked absolutely fabulous last year. SCOOT !! playing PG Anfernee Simons as full time SG amplifies his bad defense and terrible rebounding glitch. running Shaedon at SF puts him at a disadvantage on the defensive end. "Get in the paint and box people out, protect the rim!" That's a big ask for a sophomore SG with limited NBA experience. >>That Nurkic for Ayton trade has sent fan optimism through the roof. I've seen fans in "other" chat rooms thinking Portland can trade Simons straight up for an All-Star Forward. (not kidding, Blazer fans have gone nuts) when the GM asks for patience, making big moves on a rebuilding roster is not optimal. Portland has to let nature take it's course, get the young players experience. Not hop on a magical trade Anfernee idea that will create a winning program. If the Blazers make playoffs... they lose their FRP to Chicago. the Blazers have created a fun to watch basketball program, followed up with heavy tank artillery (benching starters) after the trade deadline. Portland is the envy of the ping pong war.
Yeah Simons doesn’t have that much value. If only we could get New Orleans to send us one of their wings lol
Whaat? whaaat!? Oh no, the Pelicans would have to send Portland a FRP aaaand one of their wing players. We'll take ummmm Zion Williamson, if the Blazers just want to do a straight up trade for Anfernee. Cronin messed up and made too good of a trade in the Lillard/Nurk/Nas 3-team deal. Fans are lusting for more. Win now! win now! Some Blazer fans are not computing properly. The entire depth of Portland's roster is developing rookies. Winning with Scoot at Point will take a bit. Blazer fans can use the 76/77 champion Blazers roster as an example of an ultra-young team that won a ring. Problem is, the NBA has changed a bit. It's usually the teams that can play really good defense who excel in the playoffs. Add to that... Jack Ramsey was an exceptional, innovative head coach. Billups is ... great at tanking ?
