Beavs are strong in Corvallis and their defense will dominate a freshman QB. Utah has been ordinary on the road the last 2 seasons it's not a good year to go with a freshman QB in the PAC
Utah got away with a lot of really obvious holding on offense. And the Beavs still stuffed them. Great game! I don't know anything about the Beavers defense back that wears #1, except that he made too many bad plays. Rookie?
at the risk of offending Beaver fans, I'm thinking that Jonathon Smith's good teams remind me a lot of Mike Bellotti's good teams. They both were/are great at taking 2-star and 3-star talent and developing them into 4-star players. Very solid at both lines of scrimmage with no real holes, 2 and 3 deep at RB, aggressive LB's & safeties, speed at WR with good possession skills, and TE's good at blocking and receiving for Bellotti teams, the difference between his good-great teams and his average teams usually boiled down to his QB's and corner-backs. When he had solid-to-great QB's and good cover corners, he had top-10-ish teams. I think the same is true for Smith
I'm not sure why anyone would take offense to this. Smith is proving to be a very good coach just as Bellotti was. It's no secret that OSU has trouble recruiting above the 2 -3 star level and to accomplish what Smith has the last few years is impressive.
