The fanbase as a whole might've been too hard on Jody and not hard enough on Bert.

I swear I remember a thread where we were all talking about whether we’d rather have Dame or Jrue (I’m old so could be wrong lol). Funny how things work out

I am not the biggest Cronin fan at all. But to suggest the Miami package is in some way equal to what we've gotten back thus far is disingenuous.

Miami media and fans can grow all they want but there is NO WAY Portland gets more and subsequent pieces from the Heat assets... that they weren't even offering.
They can be disappointed they didn't get Dame, but don't blame Cronin. Blame Riley, or the media for misleading the fans.

if Joel Przybilla ran for mayor on the Gerald Wallace trade, he'd win.

Miami tears keep tasting better as this off season progresses! Now they’re begrudgingly admitting Joe Knows Basketball!

    Their best package?

Four firsts, Jovic & Jaquez isn't comparable to three 1sts, Brogdon, and Williams? If we can get a 1st for Brogdon then I think the latter is better but (1) I'm unsure whether we can and (2) I still think those packages are pretty comparable.

Blazers fans thought Joviv & Jaquez plus 3 1sts is what we were going to get for Dame.

We got Ayton, Rob Williams, Camara, 3 1sts, 2 pick swaps and whatever back for Brogdon.

    Sorry, I don't think that's remotely comparable.

No, but he's asking for a hypothetical which is fine, but it still doesn't compare to what we've actually gotten thus far.

At no time was anything close to that going to be offered for Dame, just stop. Not to mention it's still not as good.

I've been analyzing the Ayton part separately because I think that deal gets done regardless. It's a big win. And part of the reason I'm not valuing Rob Will as much as others.

That's a big assumption if we're going off the initial proposed Miami deal. It could have gotten done if Caleb Martin was involved some how but again, in your own hypothetical exercise Martin is not included. The Bucks coughed up Grayson Allen who the Suns took on as part of the deal to give up Ayton. In your hypothetical, Miami is not giving anyone up that fits that mold.

Rob Will is perpetually injured, perhaps only playing 15 to 20 a night will get him healthy and extend his career. He provides more defense and for that, I value him in this deal.

Then why portray it as "their best package"?

Because leading up to this thing, that was the best deal they could realistically give up. A lot of people said it was terrible. I disagreed. Thus, we are comparing what we got to that.
