Yeah, that's odd.

 

Of course Fentress stood up first.... but he didn't ask about Dame. I'm shook.

 

Cronin confirms he told Damian that "it would be a bad idea [for him to return]"

 

And there is the Dame question.

 

Cronin acknowledged that Dame asked to report to training camp. Cronin told him he thought it wasn't a good idea. The key point here is that Dame DID NOT rescind his trade request at any time.

If all of the above is true, I have to side with Cronin. Dame would have been a massive distraction. It was best to do before training camp. If he would have publicly rescinded his trade request, that may have been a different story.

 

Joe pretty much telling us to get ready to lose a lot.

"Looking for daily improvement. We're young. We have a lot to work on. Finding consistency. It's gonna take some time for our players to come into their own."

 

Dude was struggling on those Dame questions. He knew they were coming.

 

It was clear from the Haynes piece that Dame still wanted to go to Miami even when he said he wanted to come back. With that request remaining unresolved, I don't see how any offers from the Heat would improve.

 

Everyone is healthy for training camp.

 

Interesting Nurk wasn't mentioned. I get even Nas, not to mention Keon, but Nurk was a big part of this team, too.

 

I think that's a sign of humanity. He's not a sociopath like NO.

 

Seemed to handle them pretty well though. He took deep breaths and tried to answer them carefully.

 

I was thinking, they didn't sound rehearsed or written by a PR guy. Those are definitely his words.

 

Neil would have said something like, "Look... We had to bifurcate our roster based on proprietary information."

 

Don't think it was an intentional omission.

 

He said "Nurk was incredible here and we're gonna miss him."

 

I suspect all franchises probably obfuscate, but at this time, with the technology and ease of dissemination, it feels shady when teams aren’t forthright.

 

I'll almost always give a +1 to any post that trashes Olshey....good job!
