Agreed, but what I heard from Cronin is that the team will eventually develop "the guy" or "the core". I think Ayton, Scoot, Shaedon and even Anfernee could be that person.
every NBA champion over the last 20 years has had "the guy". Every team that lost in the finals over that time has had their own 'guy'. you absolutely need a 'guy' to be successful. That's as close to an axiom as you can get. The key is what you put around your guy(s), and that was Olshey's massive failure with Dame and Chauncey is wrong...I think the Blazers will be predictable; they'll lose a lot of games
Ant is listed as 14 lbs heavier. That to me is encouraging. It was much needed IMO. He needed to get stronger. 195 seems like a good weight for him. That is only 5 lbs less than Shae
Seems like they're gonna let Scoot and Simons battle it out during training camp to see who The Guy is going to be. Said Ant really struggled to play with Dame.
And it was obvious just with the eye test AND with his stats. He plays better when he's the lead guard.
They had this one tall dude who was maybe a top 20 player ever in the history of the game. Tim something
Chauncey seems to intimate that Dame was the Big Brother he didn't want to overshadow. Now, Anfernee needs to step into the limelight. Also, Chauncey accidentally swore.
I'm gonna keep beating this drum. The biggest barrier for him becoming elite offensively is about one shooting foul drawn per game. If he gets to even 5 FTA, he's gonna be on a different tier.
Uh, no. As soon as we drafted Scoot I said we better be prepared to lose for the next 3-4 years because Dame was "100% going to ask for a trade and we're going to suck for a long time."
Yup. That's about the only thing he's missing offensively right now. It's something CJ could never do, but Ant has the athleticism so I see no reason why he can't attack more.
