Listen to the Giannis interview. How can Dame not be doing backflips playing with a guy that says what Giannis is saying?
I was going to say Scoot will give thoughtful answers, but I stopped myself. I think Scoot will give savvy answers, but I don't know if he'll feel as genuine about it as Dame did. Scoot feels "polished" in a way Dame was also but moreso... slick.
My take? He was lied to by his agent. Dame didn't want to request a trade for fear of this exact situation. Dame would rather be in Portland rebuilding than in Milwaukee competing for titles. His agent talked him into demanding out by saying he would make sure no other team would have the guts to trade for him. Cronin finally said: You're going to be traded. You aren't going to Miami. If you have any other preferences you had better make them known before I pull the trigger.
I can't help but wonder if his lack of enthusiasm is rooted in getting over the shock of leaving the team that drafted him, the city he loves, etc. That's what I feel like I'm seeing. He's still processing this massive turning point in his life.
This feels true, yeah. Goodwin sold Dame a bill of goods, and I think he got caught up in reassurances and hope for a perfect scenario, but by the time the buyer's remorse kicked in, all the bridges had been burned and now he's left holding the brat.
There is just a certain ennui I can't place. In thinking about it, I believe that's what I may have been seeing. Thanks for helping me clarify my thoughts.
Hey Dame, let me tell you how you got here.... you requested a trade. I also thought that he sounded like someone who was traded out of nowhere, and I just don't get it. Dude asked for a trade. Why was he surprised when he was... you know.... traded? Talking about suddenly thinking about having to move and all that..... what did he think would happen?
What Giannis' interview made me think was, "Man did we f*** up by taking CJ." That guy would have been PERFECT here, not just on the court, but off of it.
He was sure he was going to Miami, life has many twists and turns, as da Rollin Stones sing''' "Ya can't always get wactha want"
Sure, I understand being surprised about WHERE he was being traded.... but the fact that he WAS traded should not have been a shock at all.
When any relationship I have been in was over, I moved on. Happy for Dame, did not click on the link. It's over.....and he is with someone else.
Makes me think of lyrics from Once in Lifetime: "And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself in another part of the world And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"" ••• "You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?" You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?" And you may ask yourself, "Am I right, am I wrong?" And you may say to yourself, "My God, what have I done?""
