For the next 3-5 years we will be a cut above a G league team.

His 3-point shooting will probably be very valuable with the current roster.

I think we'll see parts of his game we haven't seen much of, such as fast-break ball-handling and passing, when he is playing with a faster tempo. Grant is murder as a fast-break finisher because of his size and skill. He is able to slither around defenders in a situation where other players might get called for a charge or become unable to convert.

If that's the case, I would call this rebuild a failure.

I say the Blazers should focus on winning now. They most likely won't make the playoff, but I expect them to be competative. They've got almost half their roster less than 26 y/o. No need to tear it down further and tank. Accumulate young assets and start to build a winning culture.

Scoot and Sharpe have obviously not reached their prime, but they are ready to win NOW.

Watch Sharpe at the end of the game in Minnesota. How is any player expected to do better than this?

Dribbling past defenders and going right at Rudy Gobert.

I would easily take Sharpe right now over Dame in this situation. Sharpe's length, jumping ability, and slitheriness are just better. His finishing ability is already excellent.

I don't understand why the Blazers would not want to give Scoot, Sharpe, Ayton, and Grant a
    good shot right now.

Video is cued up to the end of the game.

I hope so, at 73 Id like to see the team not go into tank mode for the next 2-3 years and then wait another 3 years to develop. I hope they go into a win now mode, they should if they want to keep Shae & Scoot around.

Will be a bailout option for Scoot as well. Always a threat to get a bucket on his own.

Grant is also going to look so much better as a defender when he isn’t asked to guard the ball handler all game.

So I actually like Jerami Grant quite a bit, since Syracuse days... I used to swear up and down that Aaron Gordon wasnt that much better than Jerami which was a 200-iq call if i do say so myself because Gordon was a top5 lock and Jerami was often projected in the 2nd rd.. The idea that Jerami wasnt 1st rd quality was something I'd argue with anyone bigtime.. I'm from New York n saw enough of him at syracuse.but enough history.

Not in a huge rush to trade Grant, but if there's gonna be rebounding issues then to me Grant is a player I'd look to possibly trade before I would Jrue..

The thing is also the draft pick does hold some weight in this equation I do think.. maybe.. but theres a lottery protection on it and everything so, lot to unpack with everything far as future dominos falling this season for the blazers..

Well for me... I kinda feel like a PF such as Alex Sarr in the draft, who's 7'1" and shoots 3's n moves like a real PF, could be quite a nice pickup for this type of roster.. But when I think of outlooks like that, having Grant stick around here til he's ready seems viable ---- UNLESS the rebounding is an issue.

Portland HAS TO SPEND MONEY. Can't have a roster of rookies and min salary players. Grant is a vet. If he is good being the leader of young men, great. Portland needs a couple grizzled vets to get in the ear of young guys. Remember, it is hard to develop one rookie at a time. Portland is trying to develop two basically. Yes, Sharpe is in his second season but is needing lots of developing. Adding another young vet in the front court would be great, like Ayton, but they need a player or two that are 30+ in my opinion. And Jrue is not the one. He is too valuable of an asset and needs to be maximized.

Add in Clowney and Whitehead and I'm listening. It sounds like Brooklyn views Simmons as a bit of a negative asset, so lets take advantage.

I agree on the veteran part, but it doesn't have to be a highly-paid player. I remember Dame being asked who his biggest player influence was as a pro and he responded "Earl Watson". That's because he showed him how to be a pro. How to prepare for games. How to watch film. If you're an actual contributor, too often you're caught up in your own game to worry about the rooks.

Man when, not if, Sharpe tightens up his handle, look out league. With a rather poor handle he absolutely tore up Minnesota despite being the focal point for them on defense (they even had a Taco Bell keys to the game saying this!). Sharpe has unlimited potential and will be unlocked next to Scoot. He has to start, and close.

I'm going to keep an eye:

    Nets
    Kings
    Pelicans
    Mavs
    Knicks

I don't think the mega contenders are the teams we should be chasing. I think we should be trying to send Grant to those middle of the pack playoff teams who could really use him. Look for a young forward and a pick.

Would the reason they ever offer this be that they are trading Ingram to the highest bidder and then rolling with Murphy/Grant/Zion?

Seems like a lot to give up for Grant honestly.
