Winslow is an unsigned unrestricted free-agent. I'm guessing his injuries have scared away a lot of teams.

To add another big ball handler? Maybe we pick him up for the min then for a one year?
I really liked his play playing pg when we needed to slow it down… when he was healthy.

B is the correct choice until Malcolm is traded.

Not having Scoot and Sharpe in the starting lineup is fucking nuts.

We just traded Damian fucking Lillard for this (them, specifically Scoot.)

I don't want to lose games, but I do want the Blazers to be a contender, the sooner the better.

Simons has never shown a fantastic ability to do anything other than score. HE is the one who needs to earn a starting spot.

This is where a lot of peoples' thinking, probably including Billups, is wrong, IMO.

Not so fast. I mostly agree but just like Ant needs to earn a starting spot, so do Scoot & Shae. No freebee. Earn it, no matter who you are.

In another thread we've been arguing over who gets the start, Brogdon or Scoot. It literally never occurred to me that both could. I don't like it, but it does cut the Gordian knot

    upload_2023-10-2_20-22-12.png

In my view, these are locks to start:

    upload_2023-10-2_20-23-54.png

If Chauncey was a crusty old Bill Fitch type, he'd change the fifth starter from game to game. Scoot if you're playing Golden State, TimeLord if you're playing Denver, etc.

I honestly wonder how well Ant will work with Scoot. I mean, we've seen that Ant is only maximized when he's got the ball in his hands and Scoot isn't much use off-ball. I'd honestly prefer to see Scoot come off the bench and be the primary ball-handler when he does.

This year isnt about winning games is about growth of the young guys. No way don't start Scoot from game 1 if I am CB.

I’ll say this. I don’t want Winslow handling the ball one time for the Blazers. I’d rather give Shae the opportunity to play PG like last years and live with the consequences.

I’m going to be rooting for wins until we are mathematically out, but I still am confident we will still be pretty high in the lottery despite trying to win every game.

    The west is tough man.

So we’re going to make Brogdon guard bigger players knowing he had an injury that nixed a trade this summer?

I don’t see a chance in hell that Brogdon starts.

Oh im not saying big minutes but injuries in game sttle changes that may be needed in spots.
Its just he is bigger ball handler giving us more depth and flexibility. I didn't figure as part of a core rotation. Shoulda made that clear. I wouldn't say more than the min salary, but for the min, could help fill out the bench more.

In terms of answering the thread question, right now (in my opinion) only three players are safe from being traded (or stuck here, depending on your perspective): Scoot, Shae, and Ayton. Everyone else can be had for the right price. And that's just for this year. Those guys could be moved in the future if they don't pan out as expected.

We're a better-constructed roster, but still not great. I actually think two of our leading scorers for next year (Anfernee will lead us in scoring, Jerami will be #2 or #3), no longer are great fits on the roster and may be moved. If they stay, it would be my hope that Anfernee becomes part of a three-guard rotation (into a Vinnie Johnson/Chris Paul role) and Jerami moves to the three. I am a fan of size, regardless of how Golden State has won. And I think with guys like Chet and Wemby on the horizon, you're going to need length. Moving Grant to the 3, and having him play some stretch 4 would be optimal if you're going to keep him.

Just put a "for sale" sign on everyone else. The rebuilding is still in its early stages.

Why do you feel that Ant and Grant aren't good fits?

The average age of the current roster is 23.6 years old. That's the second youngest team in the league. 8 Blazers are 23 years old or less. I think it's important for a developing team to have some mentors to add stability. Yes, Grant is not a great rebounder. But I think he's an excellent scorer and solid defender. Ant is young, and has that great ability to create his own shot. And both guys seem to be high-character guys that want to be here.

I hope the Blazers don't go too far into the 'Everything must go' phase. Keep some balance and build a winning culture.

    A) or C) or start Shaedon at the 2 is what I'm hoping for.

I don't think Brogdon or Camara at the 3 should be ignored - both are possibilities. Brogdon is a better rebounder than Thybulle.

Which is a more pressing need: defense or rebounding?
