I think Vegas had us at 23 wins the year Stotts won 50 some games. When have the Blazers not been underrated in the preseason? People think Chauncey will tank but I don't think he wants to lose his job and I think he wants to coach in the playoffs. I think we'll surprise some teams.

I am excited to see the era of "hero ball" end, and watch the team run a lot, Scoot distribute, and hopefully play better D.

    True.

But, terry was a seasoned coach.

We have a young AF team. We will surprise some teams yes, but I think expectations should be low on getting to .500. And that's fine. I'm looking 3 years down the road and that's exicting AF. And this year will be too. There's nothing to hate!

Reminds me of 2005-2006 after we blew up the 1996-2005 team. We had some good young pieces, and turned those bad seasons into LaMarcus, Roy, etc. Yeah, we sucked but I had more fun watching that team than the years before it.

No...I'm saying the hype around Scoot is similar to the hype after summer league for Smith and Bayless and Scoot. Scoot is obviously more talented than the other guys but fans get hyped about rookies to the extreme at times and I want Scoot to earn that respect for something other than one game in summer league. If we lose games I hope we do it organically and not intentionally this season.

That's a very bad comparison. The hype around Scoot is national hype over several years. Before Wemby appeared, Scoot was projected as the #1 pick.

The best Blazer comparison is Greg Oden.

You can criticize my comparisons. I'm criticizing your finality concerning the starting role early in the season. Scoot is not the number one pick...Oden was. Different draft entirely. Wemby is a better comparison to Oden.

I said "Blazer Comparison." Wemby plays for the Spurs.

and I said "better comparison" Do you remember the parade and hype for Oden? Scoot didn't get that at all. Wemby did. I'm not knocking Scoot....I'm excited about him but not like I was when we got Oden.

Is Jared Bayless really your best BLAZER comparison?

IMHO the best Blazer comparison is Sebastian Telfair. Huge huge hype nationally during his HS career.

For the record I think Scoot will be lightyears better than Telfair ended up being, but that's the hype comparison I feel.

Context matters...I said summer league hype when mentioning Nolan Smith and Bayless...people thought they were going to be game changers. People were wrong. We'll find out if Scoot is all he's cracked up to be. I'll weigh in on him around Christmas when he's guarded Steph Curry and Damian Lillard. You're welcome to hand him the franchise all you want....I'm not so quick to make that distinction.

It could have been worse. If Riley had his way, "Hero Ball" would have been replaced by "Herro Ball".

I'm so happy we ruined Pat's summer.

Didn’t read this thread, but I’d like to trademark our new offensive strategy now…… The Run and Scoot Offense™

Sadly, that's the vibe I'm getting, too. I really hope we're not buying into Bassy hype.

Neither Nolan or Jerryd where considered top 3 picks in any draft ever.

I honestly didn't like hearing Scoot say they wouldn't need many set plays in his interview. Sounded like Iverson used to a bit. Just give me the ball isn't a great plan.

but Adam Morrison was! Wes Mathews wasn't even drafted...it the numbers are supposed to guarantee production by draft position, they are often wrong. I'm not trying to buzzkill Scoot, I just think he's got a learning curve especially as a pt guard that could benefit from some mentoring from Ant and Brogdan.
