It's fun to see everyone's excitement about Scoot and Ayton. But somehow, it seems to me, that Shaeden now looks like last year's Christmas toy to many. Not quite as exciting and shiny as the new toys. But for me personally, I am more excited to see what Shaeden does this year than just about anyone else. He has the potential for greatness. Can't wait to watch him, even if he's raw.
I'm worried Sharpe isn't going to be the priority that I think he should be. Scoot, Sharpe, and Ayton are the ones I want to see guaranteed 30 minutes a night no matter what. This season should be about developing possible star players.
It's up to Billups to make sure Scoot and Sharpe aren't lost in the game plan to win now, which should only be a secondary or tertiary concern.
No, what’s interesting is how everybody is overlooking and blowing off the player who will be our Number 1 option and leading scorer this season, Anfernee Simons.
Who? I am looking forward to seeing how he does. He’s like if Dame and CJ had a kid, for good and bad. I want to know if he can make hay now that his parents have moved away.
Scott and Ant will start together. With the type of guards we have, they’re all interchangeable. I just know he will lead the team in shot attempts and scoring. Good or bad.
Sure, if his defense has improved. Otherwise, he's the same player as last season. A one-dimensional 6'3" combo guard. I want the Blazers to get better. Especially on defense. If a certain player isn't going to improve, why give him time over a player who's much more likely to improve?
I won’t go that far whatsoever. He’ll average 22 plus this season and we will win around 23 games. They usually don’t award allstar appearances for guys like that on teams like that. But still happy for Ant.
I think it’s a good thing. I think he’s going to be inconsistent this year because of his age and he’s not Scoot. Get the spotlight off him and let him continue to develop.
it would be even worse for portland to hand over the ball to shae and let him stunt on guys and go 6-20 every night with 6 turnovers as the scouting book on him grows and he loses his confidence. never go full rockets. i'd rather he get 10-12 shots a night on 25-30mpg against the bench guys as he develops his handle and learns how to read-and-react at NBA speed. should billups have some actions drawn up for him that his teammates deploy? absolutely. shae needs a strong PG next to him that is actually looking for him. Ant—god-bless-him—lacks some of that court vision commonly found in more traditional PGs. but that's a whole other topic of conversation...
I agree and I think it’s important to give him some opportunities to take over, but I like that the spotlight isn’t going to be squarely on him. We have Scoot and Ant and Ayton to take the focus so Shae can keep progressing.
if shaedon turns into jalen green I'll eat my shirt or hat. the hinkie/presti era has created an internet mob of full development truthers. there will be a time and a place for shaedon to get those massive usage opportunities, but it shouldn't be every night.
