considering when they handed the ball over to him last season he didn't go 6-20 every night with 6 turnovers, it's doubtful he would this year.
I love sharpe. but let's not compare those late-season tanking games with actual regular season games. sharpe can get 25-30mpg and develop plenty. and hey, if he plays so incredibly that he forces chauncey/joe's hand? great. I doubt the team would hold him back there. are we pre-concern-trolling something?
We actually have solid guards in Scoot Sharpe Ant Tisse Malcolm Skylar And solid centers in Ayton and Timelord Forward is our weakest. Grant is solid but hopefully at least one of Walker Murray Rupert Camara and Knox, announce their presence
I imagine that Sacramento, Memphis, LA, GS, et al considered them actual regular season games, and played actual regular season defense therein.
I guess I missed where you said it would be the worst case scenario IF he did that. I just think that would be unlikely the worst case scenario. To me, the worst case scenario would him becoming timid and looking like he's lost out there. like, Travis Outlaw most of his NBA career lost.
? My impression is that people are looking past Anfernee because we're so excited to see how Scoot can elevate Shaedon's game. I think the board consensus is that Sharpe will be player #1 or #1a when it comes to leading this team back into the playoffs.
That's my take. Anfernee will easily be our leading scorer and #1 option this year. However, long term, I'd like to see him more in a Vinnie Johnson role. Anfernee, Scoot, and Shaedon each getting equal minutes in the backcourt (more or less 32 mpg) would be amazing.
...blowing off because the powers that be refuse to see him as the ultimate 6th man he is? Blowing off because his defense will never be good enough to make a positive difference? Haven't we all seen enough of a shoot first PG?
yea that's fair. I think it'll be a bit of a balance and they'll feel him out. I agree that you dont want him to feel like he's getting yanked for experimenting.
Eventually, I see him as a 6th man as well. But this year if he plays next to Scoot or Brogdon then he is simply a shoot-first....... shooting guard. I know Brogdon can guard SGs and I am guessing Scoot can too. So it could work. He is still the best shooter on the team IMO so we definitely need him to do what he does best.
I watched Detroit in their preseason game against Phoenix. They really need a shooter like Simons. In their last 3 drafts, they've drafted Cade Cunningham (point guard) who shot 31% on threes his rookie season(missed last season), Jaden Ivey (combo guard), who shot 34% on threes his rookie season, and Ausar Thompson (calls himself a point guard) who shot 3-9 , 1-3 3-pointers in his first preseason game about whom people wonder if he can shoot at all. Detroit looks like they'll be really bad again even having the #1 pick, #5 pick and #5 pick in consecutive drafts.
I wish they saw it that way and offered to trade Thompson for Ant. However, I'm pretty sure they're happy with their young guards.
They are? Good luck with that. I suppose at some point they'll get an actually superstar in the draft.
I just remembered that they still have 2020 #7 pick, point guard Killian Hayes. He's shot 27% on 3-pointers over his 3 seasons in the NBA.
They may well have a couple of them. I think Cade will impress this year, and that shot may be the only thing Thompson lacks. Those two are going to be a phenomenal pairing.
