    I agree

I think initially there was a prevailing sentiment among the departing 10 teams to allow OSU/WSU to keep the PAC name and brand; and even to keep an over-sized chunk of future revenue that was mostly generated by the other 10 teams. I know for a fact that the movers-n-shakers of the UofO felt that way. I'm also nearly certain that sentiment at the UofO has been killed by the actions of OSU and OSU alums in the legislature (I've been told Phil knight is really pissed-off at OSU right now). And I'm pretty sure Washington feels the same way now about WSU

I think the venue shopping and the legal claims by OSU/WSU has generated enough resentment among the 10 departing schools that if they got a favorable ruling lifting the injunction they'd call an immediate meeting of the governing board and dissolve the PAC while distributing all current and future revenue equally. And I don't think they were willing to go that far before the lawsuit

Tinkle is under contract through 2027. Given Oregon State's athletic departments budget issues, I can't see him being paid to not coach for more than a year. I suspect they'll let him ride it out just for money purposes.

Though the 2024 Duck recruiting class lacks 5*s, this may end up being their highest rated ever as they've so many 4*s already in the fold. A couple of very highly thought of 6'6 West Coast DLineman are expected to announce in the coming weeks would further that cause.

I forgot about the contract extension OSU gave him after the Beavs magical end of the season in 2021. But since then, a 14-49 record...yikes! I'd imagine a little buyer's remorse

Breland and Rushing could easily be two 5* in the 2024 class. Breland announces this weekend.

I think Oregon feels cautiously optimistic on Breland; but they know that going against Georgia for defensive talent is an uphill climb

as for Rushing, from what I know he's leaning Oregon but I've heard he's open to other visits. UCLA might try to get in the mix because their new DC looks like the real deal and runs a NFL type defense

Mario Cristobal is why players should take advantage of the transfer portal

Thanks to the portal, Miami’s players can get away from their egoistical head coach and his idiot play-calling if they choose
    By
    Carron J. Phillips

Last week, the NCAA approved changes to the transfer portal. Three days later, Miami head football Mario Cristobal showed why the portal is so important — so that players can get away from coaches like him.

It wasn’t a coincidence. It was fate.

In case you missed one of the dumbest plays in the history of sports: The then-No. 17 ranked Hurricanes, who were 4-0, played (2-3) Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Hurricanes were leading 20-17 with 33 seconds left on the clock when Cristobal decided against taking a knee and running the clock out for the guaranteed win. Instead, Miami ran it and fumbled. The Yellow Jackets recovered, eventually scored, and won in the final seconds.

It will transcend sports, the stupidity of Mario Cristobal. People are going to be talking about that. There are very few times in our industry when you see something so bone-headed and moronic as what we saw from Miami and [Cristobal]. And it pains me to say that because I actually keep in touch with Mario all the time — but that doesn’t matter.

“We would be derelict in our job by not calling him out as he was in his job. I had a coach text me this morning saying, ‘Have you ever seen a more egregious of a display of coaching malpractice as that?’ The answer is no.”Paul Finebaum, ESPN.

“Saturday night was the worst loss in program history,” Dan Le Batard, Meadowlark Media.

What the f*ck are we doing?” — Miami player caught mouthing on camera with tears in his eyes.

I made the wrong call,” Cristobal said during his weekly news conference. “I take full ownership in not taking a knee and giving them the opportunity to have a couple extra plays and preventing us from sealing the win.”

Apologies lose their luster when you’re a two-time offender.

Back in 2018, when Cristobal was the head coach at Oregon, the Ducks were up 31-28 late in the fourth against Stanford. Instead of taking a knee for the win, Cristobal’s team ran it. They fumbled. Their opponent recovered it. They eventually lost — in overtime.

It’s beyond fair to think Cristobal should be fired, given that at minimum there should have been discussions taking place in Coral Gables about his job status. For the adults on their staff, it’s going to be hard to work with someone who has a record of giving games away — but at least they’re on salary. But for the players, it’s going to be extremely hard for them to take “coaching” from a man that ruined their undefeated record — they’re not on salary.

    so?

USC/UCLA didn't challenge that even though they could have because the bylaws are clear about when a team can file a written notice of withdrawl. And the reason USC/UCLA didn't challenge is because the only business the league was working on, and more importantly, scheduled to vote on, was the next media deal. That did not concern USC/UCLA so they didn't file a legal challenge

Kliavkoff is not the sole arbiter of what the Pac-12 bylaws say, and what their legal meaning is. If Kliavkoff, and the Pac-12 was tying to cut USC/UCLA out of their share on revenue this season, you can be damn sure they would have gone to court

It matters because it sets a precedent.

it's not a precedent if it violates the bylaws.

Where is the best place on the west side to watch the Ducks game tomorrow?

I live out near Hillsboro but anywhere between here and Portland is fine.

Or, is there a Must- Go place in Portland??

What is the highest ranking for UW and UO for a game? Tomorrow is #7 UW vs #8 UO. I'm guessing it's higher (or a lower number added together) in the past .

First time both teams have been in the top 10 for a matchup.

Someone said it's the highest ranked P12 matchup, but I can't confirm if that's true. Doesn't seem right, but maybe those Oregon/Stanford matchups were pre Pac12
