I thought initially when the Dame trade happened it did seem like an odd dynamic to have such an inexperienced head coach with an assistant that has so much head coaching experience of your star offensive player. Seemed like the situation could have been awkward at the least.

Terry never took the job with Dame as the PG and Griffin never decided to bring Stotts onto his staff with Dame as the focal point.

Will be interested if we ever hear more details. I assumed Terry and Dame talked this through prior to Terry announcement.

Dame found Kayla’s phone number in Terry’s contacts?

(Do I win the awful joke of the year award?)

Maybe Terry found out that CJ was not coming to the Bucks and decided to bail out. Oh wait, that's why NeO went to the Sixers.

Maybe Terry realized he does not need Joe Cronin's blessing to go to Miami and he wants to go there.

...probably strictly for babysitting duties while Dame was away so often :dunno:

Dame actually said Terry called him directly to tell him that he is leaving. The Bucks supposedly will continue to run Terry's offense - so Dame expects to be more of a focal point to help his teammates with that offense.

Damn, yeah I’d be pretty ticked off too if some new guy started bossing me around even though I have ten years of experience on him.

    Understand the sentiment here.

But there is a giant gulf between good and great. Just because someone is good and has experience (Stotts) doesn't mean they know how to be great.
We'll see if Griffin has that ability or not.

All things being equal, I would MUCH rather have someone with very little experience and the inclination to be great... than someone with a lot of experience being 'good'.

Pulling it back to Portland - that is why I was good with Stotts being fired. Chauncey said the right things to begin with. I'm not sure he knows how to be a great coach. I think he's sort of has an 'old man - get off my lawn' type mindset. He says he knows what it takes to win in this league -> but I think he's still playing the game like 20-years ago.

Stotts was always bad at handling offense through double teams. I heard OKC was blitzing Dame, and the Bucks melted down like gummy bears by a space heater.

    Coaches yelling at Practice ??
I don't believe Shams at all, that guys a snake.
But a disagreement with Stotts on providing a killer offense through double teams I do believe.

Interesting that in the Athletic article, Lillard doesn’t say why Stotts is leaving, even though Stotts must have told him.
