    How about this:

Anfernee Simons is unproven as an NBA point guard. His defense is sub-par and his court vision is lacking. He has not shown that he pushes the pace.

Not to be a wet blanket, but it's more telling who finishes a (competitive) game rather than who starts it.

Yes, I'm a hater of starting a Combo Guard at Point Guard when we the Blazers have an actual Point Guard.

One who is Proven to push the pace relentlessly. Which is what the Coach supposedly wants.

I'll take that as a consolation for now.

I'll still wonder what Billups will do eventually.

I would have traded Ant two years ago but I've seen Ant play against NBA competition so I can make that call. As it is, Ant knows a lot more about the league than Scoot. Good thing is Scoot is a quick study according to Chauncey. Scoot will become the franchise player. Let's just let him do that over half a season and not pretend we know who he is as an NBA pt guard having played part of one summer league game.

With a rebuilding team, it's nice to have some depth. Blazers have 2 players in the top 7 best reserves.

I'm kinda surprised Sharpe or Thybulle isn't listed.

These are simply the facts.. Your not even being a wet blanket.. Thats just how it is!

For example That top10 bench player list a post or 2 above this... Malik Monk is 8th... Malik Monk closes games in the 4th quarter (and in the playoffs) for the Kings.. To have him behind some actual bench players who sit behind starters in the 4th q is quite misleading..

I dont even know where to begin on who gets cut n who stays and goes... We're too close now. I believe rosters need to be set for opening day on the 23rd, so 5 more days....

A lot of players are about to get cut from all the rosters.. So as much as some familiar names n faces might be cut lose, there might be even better versions of those players being cut from other rosters.

Seems pretty clear to me that Minaya and Conditt will be cut, Reath will be retained, and then it comes down to Brown or Knox for the 15th spot, and I'd predict Knox stays.

Yeah, Joe's definitely got to keep his ears open. Not sure that there will be anyone eye-popping released, but if there's somebody that Schmitz is particularly high on, then I think we have to take swings where we can.

I never saw anything official from the Blazers, but Spotrac shows that they released John Butler to make room for Justin Minaya.

From my count, the Blazers have 2 roster spots still open. Who gets one of those spots? Knox? Reath? Both? Neither? I think with Camara playing so well in pre-season, Knox becomes redundant. I'm guessing the Blazers will sign Reath and leave one open roster spot. Although Knox is 3 years younger than Reath. Perhaps he has more value (potential?)...

For my money, Camara makes the rotation a 10-man. I think he's earned it, actually forcing Billup's hand.

What is the downside of keeping all 15 and cutting one later if someone else becomes available?

I am warming up to keeping both Reath and Brown since they are so different in skill sets. And I want to see more of Knox because he is a bigger SF than what we have.

I am wondering if Reath can be an old-school type PF. He is a good rebounder, but not a good rim protector. (Brown is just the opposite) On offense, I think he could as he can stretch the floor. But on defense, it would have to be situational as I doubt he could cover the perimeter against most stretch 4s. But I could see him and Williams playing together with the 2nd unit on occasion

Agreed. I'd love to see Camara make a strong argument to get rotation minutes. If that's the case though, the question becomes - who's minutes does he take? Most likely Walker. Unless he plays some small forward, in which case he would take some minutes from Thybulle.

It's always a good problem to have too many players deserving playing time. Let's just hope that translates into some wins in the long term.

imho, Thybulle's minutes are very cuttable. I could see him getting 23 mpg, Camara getting 15 mpg, and Grant/Sharp getting the remainder at SF.

Is there downside risk to carrying 15 guys into late December if your 14th and 15th guys are on partial guarantees?

OK, then Simons earns the start. Clearly wins 3PAr (which simply means a greater percent of his shots attempted are 3 pointers).

Good question. Other than minimum salaried contracts (for the year), and 10-day contracts, I think there is restrictions on putting partially guaranteed contracts into the season. All of the contracts I've seen have guarantee dates pre-season. Once they're on the roster at a certain point before the season begins, their contract is guaranteed for the season. And I believe there is a maximum of number of 10-day contracts a team can offer a player before they have to offer them a full contract for the remainder of the season. I'm certainly no expert in this area though...
