for a Jimmy Fallon bit, it's actually kinda funny. What about the Atlanta Hawks? Or the Cavs, Bulls, Warriors (kinda), Memphis or Spurs?
All of those have pictures of something you know what it is. Always kind of agreed it has that 69 look about it.
Our logo is better than all. Possible exception for Chicago. That's also a very cool logo. The best basketball logo is the Raptors, IMO.
Really???!!!??? You think our logo is one of the better ones???? I'm still scratching my head 53+ years later over how they came up with such a blah, uninteresting logo (especially when they tilted it). I get their "reasoning" (obscure though it was) but from a long term marketing standpoint, someone had their heads in a dark, moist (and stinky) place. I have only recently given up hope that the organization would do a complete logo overhaul in my lifetime.......I wonder many NBA fans could actually identify Portland from its logo. And I have always thought the Celtics had the best logo.......
I'd be crushed if they went away from the pinwheel. Might even just drop the team all together as a result of what I would deem such an out of touch decision.
If you look on subreddits and forums nation wide you'll nearly always see the Blazers Logo mentioned in the top. Especially once you get into the symbolism of 2 teams of 5 players facing off.
Yeah, I got that.......but I guess I'm just not that deep. I was always hoping for a Daniel Boone/Davy Crockett surly looking frontiersman on steroids (with room to expand on the theme). Barring that they coulda used the jolly, benign looking OCHS Pioneer logo.......a pinwheel just doesn't say "Trailblazer"............
if you flip our logo upside down it looks like our logo. If you flip chicagos upside down it looks like a robot having its way with a crab. We win.
I didn't know that fact until 1979, even though I had been a fan since the beginning. Mind. Blown. I have loved it ever since.
I do love me some Pioneer Pete! The guy who drew that logo still teaches art at the HS (my daughters loved his art class) and he gives Ghost Tours of Oregon City this time of year. He's also a city commissioner (Rocky Smith).
I love the pinwheel purely from a design standpoint. The 5 on 5 theme, home vs road theme offense vs defense...I think it looks great on a jersey or a hat..to me it's a top shelf logo and there aren't many sports logos I like at all. I like the balance of it as well. Also I wear this logo all the time so the more people that think it looks cool the more I can justify wearing it!
