Amen to this. Scoot will be fine. Not having everything thrown at him at once, might even be good for him!
I've read Moneyball and every book from Michael Lewis, including his latest about SFB. Moneyball does not suggest that your should blindly play young players and disregard a culture of competing. Steve Kerr and Pop do not appear to blindly give young players 40 minutes per game, but maybe they haven't read moneyball either.
He literally traded away veterans to make room for his guys to start, what? Poppovich is worthy of noting, Kerr is not. I don't think Kerr can compete without mega-giga stars. I think he's the Bill Belichiek of the NBA, carried by superstars and erroneously considered a great coach for that reason. The genius on that team is the Logo who got all that talent.
Have we not recently traded away Dame, CJ, Powell, Covington, Nurk, etc and given more minutes to younger guys we drafted/traded for? EDIT: It should be noted the philosophy behind Moneyball was far more about metrics and value than it was simply playing young players over vets. I agree with your part regarding superstar talent carrying head coaches. I have no doubt if we had superstar talent, we'd be dominating too, even with Billups. Sadly, we do not.
I just think having Scoot and Simons in at the same time will always be negative for Scoot because Simons will dominate the ball and Scoot is then rendered useless. Simons will give him the ball when he has nothing and there are three seconds left on the shot clock. Scoot will not create a shot or distribute in that scenario. Standing on the three point line waiting on a kick out is also not Scoot's game. I would rather see Brogdon start with Simons and bring Scoot and Sharpe in together if they can't commit to Scoot and are just letting Simons be Dame2.o.
Scoot needs to lose the narrative that he led grown men in the G league because he's playing with the big boys now.. I think last night humbled him....he came into the league super hyped up and he got schooled. Time to watch film and get back into the gym..he's 19
Lol. Dude disappears. No where in the game thread but logged back in halfway through the game to make sure and bump this thread!!! lol. We shall see if dude bumps this thread when Scoot has his breakout game. Doubt it though…
How so? He's doing a nice job making Griffin look good in Milwaukee right now. And like the Kerr/Pop coached teams, they have multiple superstars.
Earlier you said... You said that the Blazers would do well with superstar talent even with Billups. He had Dame. I just followed the logic train...
This whole thread is crap and the OP should be suspended for 24 hours for starting this STUPID thread. If your willing to say stupid shit like Scoot is a bust after seeing him in a couple pre-season games and the first regular season game then I am not going to pull any punches -- your a complete idiot and deserve to get roasted for saying something so damn stupid. I will play nice when people have legit thoughts and idea's and such but if your just going to spew complete crap all bets are off and I will have no problem roasting you and I will have fun in doing it.
Sorry, I meant multiple superstarS, like Kerr/Pop have had. Though it appears Billups wins a lot more games when just Dame was available than w/out him.
No worries, also don't take me too seriously, I am just in standard smartass Mr. Language Person mode.
A wake up call like last night is good; he knows now how much work there is to do, not just for himself but for everyone on the team to be more cohesive
I know this thread is meant to troll, but this topic is absolutely one of the dumbest f***ing things I've ever seen on this site. And considering the number of ridiculous things said here, that's saying something.
I will say... It's interesting watching people completely change the narrative on Scoot that many had going into the draft. "Most NBA-ready prospect" ... Now it's "give him 2 or 3 years". He's not a bust and I'm certainly not going to judge him on this game and most likely not even on this season. But to watch people wildly shift their opinion is... interesting.
