    2 regular season games.

    Not 2 years.

    Not 2 months.

    Not 2 weeks.

    2 games.

Less than 100 minutes of game time.

    And people wrote him off.

    How embarrassing.

everyone getting their overreaction hot takes in. This group used to have great basketball discussions not one emo meltdown artist after another trying to outdo each other as if that has any value :NOTMARIS:

Aside from Ant being sidelined, nothing has changed. Bumpy roads lie ahead as the youngins learn their lessons. I'm taking solace in the moments they flash and not expecting immediate results, because this isn't my first rodeo.

Yes I remember Sharpe last year. I remember his second game where he scored 0 points and had four fouls in 12 minutes.

The difference is he wasn't being thrown into the fire from the jump as a starting point guard.

It's been a brutal two games for Scoot and I expect it to continue for a while. He's too sped up, making bad choices and getting overly amped anytime he makes a good play that he then commits a foul the next possession. I do think it'll come and he'll be at least a good player but it might take awhile. There has been glimpses of him blowing by defenders, it's just most of the time that's been shortly followed by a poor decision like chucking the ball too hard on a pass or trying to go up into a shot-blockers armpit.

I couldn't agree more. Scoot is being asked to run the team. Until the tank was fully on, Shae was asked to sit in the corner and score opportunistic buckets when the opposing defense completely ignored him, which was a lot of the time. He played on a team led by Dame, he played against second units, he never was asked to run the offense and he still put up a bunch of stinkers.

Shaedon naturally takes what is given to him, Scoot just isn't that guy and is trying to take way more than he can get. Scoot is playing out of control and way too fast.

It's a completely different situation for a vastly different type of player and personality. We will have to give it some time because Scoot is being asked to do everything right away, he's being given no time to acclimate. I think he can handle that, it just means he'll have to learn the hard way. I have faith in the guy that because of his personality and seemingly great tenacity he can weather what will likely be a rocky season and come out of it light years ahead of where we're seeing him right now. I don't know for sure that Scoot is a future all star but that's where I see him most likely ending up.

Maybe a few games with the Remix will help.

At it's basic core, there is a difference between being a fan of a team, and being a fan of winning. Nothing wrong with either choice, it's helpful to understand the difference when bandying takes.

Yes, captain obvious, you can be a fan of both....but just like the mighty river, it has a tiny trickle beginning. At the beginning, you are one or the other.

Right now, I am intensely watching the very entertaining growth of every new player on the Blazers. It's fun as hell. But, hey....that's me. Wins are the last thing I am expecting, if there even was an expectation. Prejudging the future? Pointless, especially when my main interest is to watch guys learn how to play in the league. Mr. Lillard grew the skill set that fit his stature and mental make up. The NBA helped shape that. Same will happen to Scoot.

One of my favorite Scoot plays last night was a foul. His second or third? I can't remember who it was that he absolutely leveled. Kids a little beast..

They probably feel better about having their franchise player back and a bunch of solid vet role players around him... that probably makes having successful outings easier on Miller. We all knew that Miller had a reliable jumper with nice three point range... that's a nice skill to be able to lean on. I also think it's important to note that Miller is well over a year older than Scoot but that is a far less important factor than him having a reliable jumper on a team that plays experienced pros most of their minutes.

I posted his dunk stats once and got torn apart for "hating Scoot".

He missed a surprising amount of dunks for someone who is supposedly a "D-Rose level athlete".

Plenty of people were saying Miller wouldn't be able to get his shot off in the NBA, lol.

But I agree with the rest of your statement. Comparing Scoot to Miller is ridiculous. Completely different roles on wildly differently teams (although some people thought the Hornets would be worse than us...)

The season is way too young to label anyone a bust just yet.

I'm in the 'show me' camp. I don't care where players were drafted. I don't care about potential. I don't care about hype. I don't care about a player's pre-draft measurements. I don't care about someone's opinion about a player's 'it' factor. It only comes down to what they can show us on the NBA floor.

Yes, being young buys the player some time. But at the same time, we can't pretend that Henderson didn't have some red-flags pre-draft -

If I were the coach, I'd bring Henderson off the bench and start Brogdon. Get the pressure off of Scoot and allow him to come into the game facing the other team's second unit. And I wouldn't be looking to trade Brogdon this season. I think Scoot needs that veteran mentoring.

And for the record, Dame played 4 years of college ball, came here when he was 21 or 22.

I think he’s adjusting to the speed and size of NBA defenders. I also think he’s realizing some of the lazy passing isn’t gonna work in the NBA. He will eventually adjust, and at 19 should only get stronger. My big concern is the shooting, at the very least he needs to make that mid range shot. Luckily that is something that can be worked on everyday.

I still think Sharpe is the one with the biggest upside, we just need to find a way to help him develop it. We need Scoot to be a lockdown defender, distributor, and secondary scorer eventually.

My god, you and @Strenuus with balanced sober takes. HOW DARE YOU! I'm so offended right now! I think I will write an entire thread on how Stomp and Strenus were thought to be hype posters who would make an immediate hype impact, but after these two posts, I declare you both busts!
