that's a solid point. A&M has had one 10 win season in the last 25 years. That was in 2012 under Kevin Sumlin if you assume the Ducks will win 10 this season, in the same 25 year period A&M has had one 10 win season, Oregon has had 14.
possibly. but there are more options than just Lanning for A&M the scumbaggery of Urban Meyer and A&M seem a match made in heaven. Maybe they'll go after Mike Norvell who has roots all over the South and was born & raised in Texas. Maybe they'll look at their former DC and current Duke head coach, Mike Elko. Lane Kiffin is already getting a lot of buzz for this job, and actually seems like a good fit. Jeff Traylor has incredibly strong Texas roots. Chris Klieman at Kansas State. How about Kliff Kingsbury? don't be surprised is A&M takes a long look at Arizona's Jedd Fisch; and that Fisch would be interested. His extensive NFL coaching experience has been a huge selling point for Arizona recruiting; that would be super-charged at A&M and of course if A&M wants to make a big splash and be the pretty-boys at ESPN all they have to do is 'steal' Deion Saunders from Colorado
much more than who? Oregon? I don't think 10M/year would turn Lanning's head because Oregon would match. Sure would turn Smith's head though but Smith likely wouldn't be a big enough splash
USC’s decline into the Meh of Troy is karmic justice for killing the Pac-12 https://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/20...is-karmic-justice-for-killing-the-pac-12.html
So they're going to pay him a $1 billion? The Ducks will be able to match anything A&M offer, and the Ducks are a better program, and then there is the Nike connection...
Lanning would be a fool to leave for A&M. But I think he knows that he’s lucky to be at a school like Oregon. He ain’t going nowhere.
Here is the thing when you have a great coach doing great things they will always be wooed by someone and granted the past 2 times with Mario and Taggert have made fans a little worried but one thing those had in common that is NOT in play this time around -- connections to FSU and Miami. Only job I would be worried for Lanning to leave is if the Georgia job opened up so until that happens fans might have to read / listen to BS from places like ESPN and talk up something but in reality ... nothing to see here.
