Politics X sues Media Matters over report about ads appearing next to Nazi posts

You have seen him publicly denounce racism? I have seen him accuse Jews of genocide against white people and of destroying the country by promoting immigration.
To paraphrase, he might not be a Nazi but Nazis think he's one of them.

 

We have documented and confirmed evidence of exactly how bad Hitler was. I've not seen any such evidence in this case.

It looks like he disagrees with some actions or statements he attributes to the ADL. And, look at that, racism of any kind.

Yes, the only possible conclusion could be that he's racist...

Now, he may be racist. I'm not sure. But this doesn't seem racist. It seems like big game hunting by people with nothing better to do...

 

There is zero way to read his response to that tweet as anything other than agreeing with a hardcore antisemitic, and stereotypically neo-nazi-esque, tweet. And not just agreeing with it, but amplifying it for all to see.

Musk is a piece of shit. He came from a family that did very well for itself during apartheid, and that sentiment has clearly not left him.

He agreed with some part of the post. But he clarified that he wasn't agreeing with anything racist toward any race.

Point me to where he agreed with part of the post. He responded with, "you have spoke the actual truth" after some vile antisemitic drivel. You seem to be doing a lot of mental gymnastics here to defend a fucking Nazi.

 

I quoted his explanation in my post above. It's not mental gymnastics if you just read what he actually said... which was imploring all racist attacks to stop.

It seems like you kind of need mental gymnastics (or to ignore what he actually said) to be keep being offended...

Or you could just want to be offended and it wouldn't matter what was actually said or intended.

I have no reason to defend Musk (in fact, I've criticized and made fun of him in the past, regarding his mishandling of TwiX, as well as other times), these overreactions deliberately ignoring context just seem kind of silly and counterproductive to me.

 

Sounds like someone trying to walk back their actions to avoid consequences. Agreeing with the tweet that he called "actual truth" and amplifying it makes him 100% complicit in antisemitism. It is the same antisemitic conspiracy theory espoused by the shooter at the Tree of Life synagogue where 11 people lost their lives, as well as every neo-nazi shithead in the world. There is no walking that back. There are no explanations that should satisfy anyone. He said what he said.

It is like someone trying to argue that Hitler had some good ideas and claiming they aren't a Nazi. Grow up.

If Musk wanted racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic filth to stop on xitter he could make it so in a day.

 

Instead, he allows them back on the platform, amplifies it to make sure more people see what they write, and then calls it the actual truth. And then people defend him for it. I really didn't think we would see so many enablers of this kind of behavior in 2023. Boy was I wrong.

 

He's been pretty clear about why he doesn't do that.

That doesn't make him a Nazi or racist, even if I do think he has screwed the pooch with TwiX.

 

Free speech certainly doesn't mean you have to sit aside and allow people to tell lies about you.

I don't know what "free speech absolutist" means to Musk. I know that most people are hypocritical, and that includes Elon Musk. He's not a nice person by pretty much all accounts.

 

You make a lot of assumptions there.

He spent billions on Twitter because he spends all of his free time there and he could afford it. He also dreams of building an "everything app" which will be used for banking, shopping, community square, entertainment, etc.

He's much further along with that goal after buying Twitter than if he tried to start his own site to compete with Twitter.

I personally doubt this will ever happen, and I definitely don't like the changes from Twitter, but that's beside the point.

And he obviously doesn't like the idea of being censored. Now he doesn't have to worry about that.

He said he agreed with the truthfulness of a post. He further clarified that post by saying he didn't support any racism.

Things are simply not as you describe them.

 

Trump said he is the least racist person in the world. Anyone believe that? I doubt it since he is constantly promoting racism. Musk uses his platform to promote racist filth. When called out he sues the caller. Then says he is against racism. About as credible as Trump.

 

Hmm... I don't think the fact that Trump is racist necessarily means that Musk is racist as well.

I mean, its possible Musk is racist as well. I just haven't seen the evidence to support that conclusion.
