What’s even crazier to me is he spent two years in the Gleague and neither him or his team thought to have an eye test?? Baffles me.
He always did.... how are people not aware of this? He shot like 26% from three last season. What has been surprising is that he had a solid mid range jumper in the G League and he hasn't been very consistent with that so far, but I also think he's rushing it.
drafted #4, Russell Westbrook rookie season started off a bit janky. It took about 20 games for Russ to catch a rhythm. By January of 09' Westbrook was dropping 30 point games. The biggest difference between Westbrook's inaugural season and Scoot's, is Russ wasn't toeing the line. He was getting to the rack and earning some free throws. Being Blazer fans, we can say the refs suck, Scoot gets fouled on every play, and he should be shooting more free throws. Or, we can be honest and say the transition from G-League defense to NBA defense has pushed Scoot out of his comfort zone. Henderson hasn't found those easier 14 footers. The goliaths in the NBA have him launching from 18+ feet away. I have the utmost confidence that Scoot will figure out his own niche in the Blazers offense soon. It's still very early in the season, and there is no hurry to disrupt the flow of natural basketball that will begin to flourish with Scoot Henderson on the court.
There are "degress" here, I have in no way given up on him, just think he is a lot more "raw" thin I thought he would be and its likely going to take significantly longer for him to get to a higher level. I fo not thing he is any kind of "generational talent, think he can be a solid st russ was approx 19 1/2 when drafted, he turned 20 om Nov 12 2008, Scoot is roughly 3 months younger
Also Russ was getting way more reps than Scoot from day one playing 30+ minutes a game and Russ was drafted after his sophomore year at UCLA at 19 years old but he turned 20 during his first month of his rookie season.
Green font? Just this last game Haberstroh said that second spectrum has clocked Scoot as the fastest player in the league this season, meaning he's reached the highest speed on the court. I think he's looked pretty explosive too... so quick, not just fast. The guy also seems to have a pretty impressive vertical... Westbrook's was probably more impressive in his prime. I see Scoot's lateral movement to be right on par with a guy like Russ as well and both are absolute beasts for their height in terms of build and strength. Athletically he's about the closest thing to a Russ clone that the league has ever seen.
Russ was about 3 months older than Scoot as a rookie (turned 20 in November, Scoot will turn 20 in February), and played 2 seasons at UCLA.
In his rookie season, December was by far Westbrook's best month for shooting when he shot 46% overall. In March he shot 39.8% overall, which was identical to his overall FG% for the season. His worst shooting month was the 8 games of April, where he shot 34.1 %. https://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/3468/type/nba/year/2009
Not sure you want to compare Scoot to Westbrook on here. He’s a glorified G-League here, NOT a 1st ballot HOFamer!
He needs to square his feet to the hoop. He also brings the ball down too far. Defenses can easily recover and contest when you waste that much time bringing the ball down after you catch it.
He has a weird hitch in his shot. But Reggie Miller had one of the ugliest shots in the league and it went in so
If I see a helicopter crashed into a tree, I don't have to be a pilot to know that someone fucked up. Been watching hoops for 30+ years. Seen enough people shoot a ball. I don't know how to fix a shot, but I can tell you when one looks off.
