Never understood why Kobe is put on such a pedestal. Only NBA major stat he leads all time is missed shots. Sharpe does have some crazy untapped upside. Hope he continues to improve and realize more of it. I look forward to when we talk about what makes Sharpe so great and not worry about who's traits he should try to emulate. IMO if we did bring up names Ginobili, Tmac, Vince, Wade, Kawhi, Booker, etc are all better to model your game after. Even the brief career of BRoy.
This is what Sharpe is capable of already. (Unfortunately, we have a coach who loves "point guard" of whatever quality so we don't see this enough.)
he hasn't learned when the best time is to terminate his dribble drive. He goes too far, too often, and ends up trying to pass thru a crowd
Shae first reminded me of Kobe with his flashes of pace and moves, which already got me excited. I thought, and still do think, he could become a multi time scoring champ who could score however he wanted. But now, I’m thinking could be a more evolved version of what T-Mac was in Toronto. Shae is showing that when he hits his prime, he’s going to do alittle bit of everything. Even on a terrible shooting night, he’s still going to get way more boards than the average SG and he’s going to still put pressure on the rim. Dame said he wish he had 4 Josh Harts on the floor, I think I’d rather have 4 Shaes on the floor with Scoot. Shae fits a mold of player who would thrive on any team—a guy who is a threat to score playing on AND off the ball, and can be good at every other facet of the game. Buzelis is that guy in the draft for me. Having TWO guys like that with Scoot is going to just open everything up for him when he figures everything out. We’re also going to have enough ammo that eventually we can trade for another guy like that if we wanted to go all in.
Yes, very true. That takes the entire team though. Shae is obviously going to be beloved here, if the FO shows Shae that he is every bit as important to this team as Scoot, I think we’ll be fine. Bringing in character guys is also going to be very important. That’s why I like Buzelis as a prospect a lot right now. We’re obviously going to suck, but it’s going to be important to bring in guys who have the talent and fit for the team but don’t want to just be the man right away. Cultivate a culture of hard work by continuing to bring in vets like Brogdon via trade to mentor the young guys. This could literally be bringing in someone like Lowry from a trade with Miami or Lonzo from a trade with Chicago.
am I the only one who is kind of hoping that Sharpe cuts down on the number of times he goes sky high around the rim? He's always several feet in the air and is landing in heavy traffic, and sometimes landing awkwardly. I know he can be spectacular, but the risk scares me a little
I don’t understand why the Blazers don’t promote this dude more? Broy, Dame, etc got huge publicity when they were young unknown guys making a name for themselves..
Sharpe also has a 4.0 assist / turnover ratio (5.0 assists / 1.3 turnovers) in the 4 games of December. If you combine that with his TS% over the last 5 games, it seems idiotic to me that Billup is going with Simons handling the ball at the end of a game. It pisses me off. Billups pisses me off.
