    yeah

I was grandfathered in at 247 because they bought EDuck (Scout) about 5 years ago. Joined EDuck in 2005

I used to know 3 or 4 guys that were well connected to the UofO AD and coaching staff back in the Brooks/Bellotti years. So I got lots of early inside info (which I didn't share by request). Now, it's down to one semi-significant donor who occasionally hears some things. Sometime the things he hears are right, sometimes not

Ok that might deserve a nomination for tweet of the year.

Which is better? On3 or 247? I listen to the 247 guys on their podcast. I don’t sub.

at On3 you'll see more rumors and tweets from subscribers. They also have a lot more memes and gifs. There's a hell of a lot more snot, piss, and vinegar at On3. Lots of food fights and more trolls

247 has less rumors and is usually much less bombastic and antagonistic. Seems like what's reported there might be a little more vetted. They might have more news about the other sports and women's sports

    I agree with this.

I'd confidently say the converge for Oregon basketball and baseball is far superior at 247, but you're not going to get the sunshine pumping rumors from the local 247 guys (though their national guys get a lot of good info). The On3 message board is really football heavy, where 247 has plenty of people into softball, volleyball, track, etc.

I think the only place the Ducks have to worry about Lanning leaving to is the NFL. And that league is fixated on offensive oriented coaches right now. So I don’t see that happening

in case you're wondering about Oregon's scholarship picture:

92 scholarships with the NCAA limit being 85. The Duck have to be at that limit by sometime in training camp, IIRC

the current portal has a Jan 2nd deadline for entry; so, including today, there are 10 more days to this portal. And, there's a 15 day portal in the spring, April 15-30.

Jordan Burch and Terrance Ferguson still haven't said if they are entering the draft. Same for Bassa

Ducks are still holding open spots for Walter Nolen (unlikely) and Derrick Harmon (50-50). Maybe a safety and CB too. And with the recent ruling that the NCAA won't enforce the multiple transfer rule, there could be a lot more players entering in the next 10 days (some may be Ducks).

it's a definite numbers crunch but Lanning & staff have shown they are willing to process players. You have to be willing if you want to remain competitive

Can a player's NIL deal involve paying their tuition so they aren't on a scholarship?

    directly?....probably not

but say Division Street approached Dillon Gabriel and said we'll pay you 1.2M to go to Oregon. But we'll pay you 1.3M to enroll at Oregon and walk-on to the football team. What could the NCAA do about that? That just seems to be a contract between Division St. and Gabriel with simple terms and options. And over the last 3 years the NCAA is like a turtle that keeps getting poked with a stick and keeps pulling it's head further and further into it's shell and the shell keeps shrinking. And the courts are the ones poking with sticks; the NCAA has lost every court battle and ended up pretty toothless

Yes they will... I've never seen a program start the season with more than 85 scholarship players, they always find a way to process. Oregon had more players under scholarship in the off-season last year.

It should also be noted with NIL a player could effectively have their tuition and living expenses covered without having a scholarship. Some schools do this for all walk-ons.
