Mike Richman was saying that it’s obvious that Scoot has been deciding ahead of time what he’s gonna do and won’t deviate from his plan. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. What he needs to do is take what the defense is giving him, or adjust his plan when it won’t work. He is getting better at this. I think it’s just a habit from playing against G league competition for two years where he could pretty much impose his will on teams.

that's a deceptive picture and it's not where he got control of the ball; and even if you believe that's where the counter started, it's only 60 feet from there to the opposite backboard, not 75 feet

no...but he's about the only player in the NBA that could, maybe, cover 75 feet in two dribbles and I doubt he could do it except in a video game

a court is 94 feet long. The three point line is 25 feet from the baseline making the 3 point line 69 feet from the opposite baseline (FT line is 19 feet from baseline + 6 foot radius to 3 point line). The backboard extends 4 feet from the baseline, so the 3 point line is 65 feet from the opposite back board. That means, if Scoot actually traveled 75 feet, he would have had to gain control of the ball 10 feet inside of the three point line. That's 4 feet inside of the FT line! And if you calculate for some point in front of the rim where he released the ball, he would have had to start 6-7 feet inside of the FT line

25 pts on 23 shots, thats terrible efficiency

3/7 3-pointers, thats really good efficiency

hopefully he plays better tonight and he should stop attacking wemby at the rim (he wants to prove something, but thats just foolish)

Scoot’s 3 point percentage is about 27% now. About the same as Wemby. It will continue to go up.

Is it me or does scoot struggle driving left to hoop?

I think that his shot selection was greatly impacted by the lack of offensive skills on the team outside of him, Grant and Brogdon. So I don't fault him for 23 shots.

He showed signs of what he should become, but he also showed he's not ready for prime time just yet.

Hopefully some of the "injured" players aren't "injured" tonight.

No it's not you. You drive to the hoop left handed way better than he does.

I wondered about the Wemby factor before the game. He had success against Sac at attacking the basket, but there is a big difference between Victor and Domantis when it comes to rim protection.

his shot chart against the Kings:

    upload_2023-12-29_9-35-41.png

looks like he was 3-9 in the restricted area

    his shot chart last night:

    upload_2023-12-29_9-38-46.png

looks like 1-5. He was 2-2 against the Warriors; but 0-4 against the Wizards; and 2-6 against the Suns

so, if those shot charts are accurate (I'm not sure about that), in the last 5 games he's 8-26 (30.8%) in the restricted area. Now, according to BBREF, shots 'at the rim' are 0-3' from the rim; while the restricted area is 0-4' from the rim, so there is a difference

still, that's really bad shooting within the restricted area. It's actually so bad I'm guessing it's something of an aberration; maybe due, in part, to the shot blockers the opponents had over those 5 games

but I can't be sure unless I looked at the shot charts for every game Scoot has played and I'm not going to take the time to do that

While I will be the first to say he has things to work and needs to get more efficient I was encouraged to see that he is 3nd in assists per game and 5th in scoring. If he can continue o improve he should be a great point guard.

Would we be better off today and for the future if Charlotte had drafted Scoot and we ended up drafting Brandon Miller?

Scoot is 19. How the fuck we supposed to know who is the better player before the dude turns 20?
