More ex NBA players need to become refs..too much of the scoring is on tech fouls or just bad foul calls.

that rim gets a little smaller when the playoffs come around. The strong defensive teams usually take the cake. Regular season is blast away, launch that turkey, everyone toes the line. The playoffs are a different animal. Perimeter defense becomes frenetic, battle for loose balls see's bodies hit the floor. It's fun stuff! I highly recommend watching the playoffs this spring, even if the Blazers don't make it there.

This is what matters to me. How many field goals are made and the percentage made.

    The 2020s are lower than the 1980s. I wouldn't want a reduction.

Yep. Stockton was open for his WCF series winning 3 against Houston because Malone bear hugged Drexler.

I would venture that our Actual Literal Curse isn't a good example to go by, and would remove Portland from any data I analyzed.

This is because FG% doesn't split between 2 and 3 point FG% (the latter of which rewards 33% shooting like 50% shooting for 2pt FGs). Given that we're shooting 10x the swish-3's as the 1980s (34.6 per game versus 3.5 per game) you really need to split these stats by 2FG% and 3FG% to get a good read, or use eFG% (effective FG%) which takes the point value of shots into account.

Playoffs are fun but Warriors have won 4 titles chucking threes.

Interestingly, as a league we're shooting 6.5 fewer FTs per game in the 2020s than in the 1980s. While I agree that ticky-tack calls are annoying, there are fewer fouls overall now.

3 & D !! Warriors were always near the top in team defensive rating throughout their championship seasons. They'd get All-Stars like Iggy and Wiggins, turn down their fire hose, and use their athleticism to get stops.

Another thing to note: free throw attempts per game are actually quite a bit lower these days than they were in the 80s and early 90s, though the old times talk about how the refs swallowed their whistle more.

Im all for forearm checking but not so much hand checking. Do away with the zone and implement some d rules much like in mid 80"s.

Offense too easy, too wide open, too 3-heavy? Eliminate screens outside the 3 point arc.

You know what they could do to bring some balance back to the game, is eliminate the 3 seconds in the key rule, or shink the key down to what it once was. That rule tilts things against big men and inside players, while at the same time the 3pt shot tilts things against them. The key was actually widened because of Wilt Chamberlin.

It would bring back more of the post and mid range game.

Offense equals ratings. Nobody wants to watch games end at 80-78.

And yet, 90s NBA basketball was far more popular than the crap they have today.

been saying it for years so many ticky tack fouls destroying the game. I hate watching free throws especially when guys don’t earn them.

no but there needs to be a balance. There’s no flow to the game, it’s all offense with guys getting called for things that shouldn’t be fouls

Because scoring is up or a handful of other factors?
