How long of a leash should Chauncey have?

What should we do with Chauncey?

  1. Fire him - even young players deserve a good coach

Funny how much more talented teams get when they've got good coaches.

I'd say it's funny how much more talented a coach is when they've got good players.

To me Chauncey still talks too much about learning his guys and trying things out and etc but he's going on his third season with a total of 69 wins and more blown 4th qtrs and leads than I can remember. I have not been impressed with his playbook or his offensive instincts. Get these young guys a head coach with playoff experience and a solid playbook before they form any more bad habits on offense. We have enough talented vets to beat the Wizards but we've gone from a top 10 defensive team to a team that is a getting smoked on the scoreboard night after night. Shake it up if you're going to rebuild...start with the coach. Go out and get an alpha franchise player that's old enough to have a beer. At some point the ball stopped zipping around and we have half a qtr of Ant taking every shot...half a qtr of Grant taking every shot...half a qtr of Sharpe taking every shot...half a qtr with Scoot taking every shot....I'd rather we kept the opposing defense guessing once in a while instead of being so predictable with the ISO game. I've shut off 4 games before the 4th qtr this season and that's never happened in decades. I miss the Blazers being a solid playoff team every year instead of a lottery wish list team.

Talking about Chauncey's record is pretty close to insane. We all know that he hasn't been afforded a roster meant to win. As far as Chauncey talking constantly about learning his team, that might be because the roster turnover since he's been here has been insane.

The fact is Chauncey has done well developing guys but he also looks like he would have a hard time making the necessary in game adjustments to win if he had a team that was supposed to win. The jury is still out on how good Chauncey can be as a head coach but judging him now given the weak rosters that he has coached doesn't make a lot of sense.

Chauncy is a nice guy. I'm sure he knows the game.

I've not seen much evidence that he's a quality coach.

Every team is supposed to win. Bottom line. We have enough talent to be finishing games well. Our top 10 defense is gone...it should have gotten better..our ball movement is gone. That's coaching....these guys know how to pass a basketball. If that is me being insane, well...I'll just have to be insane then.

I'm not sure who I'd target but I think wee need an upgrade. I'd consider David Vanderpool considering what he did with Dame early on in Dame's career. I just want a coach who knows his/her playbook and uses his/her tools effectively and not one who's searching for something that might work..

This is a bottom 5 roster when you factor in talent, experience, and availability.

Not on the defensive side of the ball. It's shown it can be a top 5 defense....we got lazy. We do not have enough offensive talent, that's for sure. I don't think our offense is being used properly as it is. Guys take turns playing ISO ball too much.

We have two good vet defenders.

Young athletes don't always equal good defenders, especially without experience. We can be good defensively down the road, but I'm think 2-3 years, not months.

Camara and Walker are good defenders...Scoot is better than Dame was and Shaedon can be when he wants to...all these guys played us into a top 10 defense early in the season..Ant, our vet is not a good defender. Our defense has been better when he's on the bench.

We've been top 10 in defense a couple times the last few years early in the season. The someone creates a thread drawing the conclusion we're a good defensive team, some of us say "too small of a sample size", and thus far, by the end of the season we've been a bottom ten defense.

I'm not ready to call Walker of Scoot "good defenders". Camara is very good for a rookie, but still shows his lack of experience semi-regularly.

This is not a top 10 defense in my opinion.

It’s not inexperience….it’s the lack of talent. OKC is a fantastic example of inexperienced, yet talented.
    We are not OKC.

This roster fully healthy would win 23 games, what are you talking about?

    One of MANY examples!

The worst two teams in the standings have head coaches with a combined 4 NBA Coach of the Year awards.

I keep saying, we are closer to the Pistons than we are the Thunder.
