Where is he listed at 197? That might have been his weight at the combine. He looks like a solid 215-220 right now. No way 197 is his weight.

Wiggins has essentially the same contract as Grant except for an extra season. At best the player for player swap would be a lateral move but I think Grant is a better player personally.

but sure, if the Warriors would send an extra 1st for Grant, why not. I really don't believe they'd do that though

I get the contracts are essentially the same (Wiggins’ being a little better). I actually think Wiggins is a better player than Grant when everything is right. Much better on ball defender, and can play both on and off the ball, and a proven track record of playing great defense on an opposing #1 option deep in the playoffs.

Yeah, I don’t think an overpay like this happens if Curry wasn’t on this roster.

If you think Grant is the better player (and I agree) then I would not let an extra pick sway you. We need Grant more than Wiggins because I believe we can find younger players who can match what Wiggins can do much easier than we can find one to do what Grant offers.

I like the concept. But the difference between Grant/Wiggins salaries is only ~$2M/yr.
Grant is (by almost every metric) is the better player across the board. Amazingly Grant is a better rebounder than Wiggins is

So are you a nay? But I’m kind of glad there is a little debate, I thought it was going to be unanimous that Wiggins was the better player.

Is this based on reb% or something like that? Because from what I’ve seen, he averages the same, if not more rebounds than Grant, at SF. Wiggins would strictly be a SF.

Respectfully, why do we need Grant more than Wiggins? I see one or the other as a game of trade-offs. Grant is obviously a better scorer. Wiggins is a better point of attack defender and still a great 3rd option like he was on the Warriors championship team.

I would understand you disliking the trade if you think Wiggins will never round out to form again. But are you saying you’d rather have Grant as his is now vs Wiggins on that championship team two seasons ago?

I think we need outside shooting from that position more than we need what Wiggins brings. I would rather develop Camara there instead while keeping Grant. And I think Grant would bring back more in return if we elect to trade him.

At this point trading Brogdon or Grant for an assets seems like a waste. I’m ready for an upgrade move to expedite the baking of the cake. I would prefer to use Brogdon or Grant plus combine a pick or two to get an upgrade.

is there an upgrade out there that is the question if not then I guess you take the asset’s and hope something comes along later. Also don’t you need to keep a player or two with decent contracts so you can match salaries in a trade?

Hmm, fair points. I really hope you’re right about Grant returning more than that. I think getting an extra 1st + 2nd (probably a high 2nd, at that), guaranteeing the ‘24 1st unprotected, and a flyer on Moody who was a lotto pick in a deep draft to slightly downgrade from Grant to Wiggins would be a great deal.

What do you think he could fetch back by the deadline? Grant might be the most sure thing at forward, given Siakam’s contract situation, and Grant is also a tier above guys like Kuzma imo.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m sure glad you aren’t GM, LMAO. You might be excited for multiple first round exits against OKC in the next decade, I personally am not. You’d think getting punked by Golden State for a decade would’ve taught us something, but apparently some of us are back for more whoopins’.

Nope. You’ll be waiting a long time if you’re hoping Cronin attaches a 1st rounder to any deal in the next two years, at least. Ant + a few 1sts might be able to net a really good forward, but that won’t be this year. If a superstar becomes available that might fit Ant’s timeline in the future, I wouldn’t put it past Cronin to offer Scoot like the Kings did Hali. Options are wide open right now.

DA’s contract is larger than both. He’s pretty much unmoveable right now, so there’s one contract. Keeping DA and Grant hurts us down the line, when we don’t know what Grant’s value might be. Brogdon is gone at the deadline regardless of what we want. One of those guys will bring salaries back.

Here is a suggestion from someone who must be a Laker fan:
Perfect Trade Scenario Sends Jerami Grant And Malcolm Brogdon To The Lakers
yeh, perfect for the Lakers. Two really good players for a pile of poo poo. D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2025 Second-Round Pick (LAC), 2027 Second-Round Pick (LAL)
