Honestly, I think a partial rebuild is needed

Fox would not be the guy I m0ve. Young players need to be developed on the PP. The two guys I would move are Zibanejad and Kreider. I'd ask both to waive their NMC. If they didn't, I would tell them neither is going to get first unit PP time any longer. They have had more than enough chances to produce at even strength to earn their contract. They have failed miserably in most cases. Goodrow would also be a guy I'd move. The team needs to acquire a young, number 1 or 2 center talent via trade.

Now, being it's the Rangers and they far too arrogant to do that. Ottawa is the place I'd look for center help. They fucking suck and everybody should be fired in that organization. I'd roll the dice on Pinto. They have a center prospect Ostapchuk who has a very good upside and is not far from the NHL. I would move Goodrow to a team he is OK with for a role player prospect. I'd send Garand, Robertson, Jones and Vesey to Ottawa for Pinto and Ostapchuk. They need a young goalie prospect. Chychrun wants out of there. Give them Robertson and Jones which can hold them over while they trade Chychrun for what will probably be picks or non NHL ready defenseman prospects. These are the types of deals our dumb fuck GM is too stupid and has no creativity to do.

Ask a friend who roots for another team for an honest evaluation of the Rangers talent and you'll see why these trades only happen in fantasy land. Fox trade would give the team a much needed shakeup and is much more realistic than getting guys to waive NTCs.

Pinto's value is down. He's some issues. That being said, we need to roll the dice on some young centers. Do I want to trade Garand? No. Do I think he can be a really good, NHL goalie? Yes. I'm not as sold on Shesterkin as I once was. That being said the weakness of our organization other than our dumb fuck GM is drafting centers. The strength is drafting and developing goalies with BA here. We need to roll the dice. It's unfortunate that our 3rd line center and potentially a number 2 center in Chytil has a melon head now. It happens. The organization needs to do something. NOW!

Atleast they once traded JT Miller away for absolutely nothing.

I don't know if I'd say the words partial rebuild, or as I wrote last night just do something to change up the team. I do think a big move is needed to change the chemistry/dynamic. I didn't think so until watching the past few games, and now I believe it needs to happen. This core is not going to get it done, and they are woefully short in the bottom 6. A dynamic of the team changing move is needed, but I don't have a lot of faith in Drury to actually pull that off.

On JT Miller, of all the moves we have made, and guys we have traded through the recent years, he is the one guy I regret trading, and that was my immediate feeling as well. All the other moves I am fine with/understood, but adding Miller in the McD trade was too much, and if it was a deal breaker, then I would have passed on that one if I were Gorton - although my guess is we could have still made the trade, but maybe would have not gotten Howden and Hajek (who was reported to be the must have by Gorton), who were both busts anyway, so who cares.

Meanwhile, the Rangers got nothing and Miller is arguably the best center in hockey right now.

Miller said it himself. He would’ve never succeeded in New York. He was too immature. The first thing you need to do is demote Kreider and Zibanejad off the first power-play unit.

    1st unit

    Panarin-Trochek-Lafreniere

    Fox-Kakko

    2nd unit

    Zibanejad - Cuylle - Kreider

    Trouba- Miller

You start developing Cuylle in front of the net on the power play. You let Lafreniere, one time passes on the right wing on the powerplay. Essentially you start to send a message to Zibanejad and Kreider that you’re being phased out

However, as we all know, this is one of the worst run organizations in NHL history. So I don’t expect them to make any good trades or decisions, developing young forwards, because they never do.

I think you are way too hung up on this PP thing. The Ranges PP is # 2 in the NHL, it is the only thing that works for them over the long haul. I am not saying absolutely don't mix it up, I am saying I don't think it is this magic elixir to cure all the ills of Kakko.

As for Miller, no one knows for sure, but over time I would think he would have matured here as he has elsewhere. And either way, his inclusion in that trade was not a good move. I understand why McD was dealt for cap reasons, and supported it, but adding in Miller never made sense from the second the trade was completed.

They’re not as good as their start but shouldn’t be as bad as they have been playing. A lot starts with Shesterkin who is being outplayed by Quick this season. It should be on him to steal games every night but he puts the Rangers in holes far too often.

He doesn't stop the dam when it breaks, like HL would do, he let's it get worse. I would maybe sit Miller for a few games and try and get his mental issues sorted out. Harpur isn't great obv. but at least he has some experience.

I agree they shouldn't be as bad as they have been playing, but man when your bottom 6 is a zero it is difficult to consistently win games. 4 of thr 7 bottom 6 players have 1 goal on the season. That is not sustainable over the long term. They need to add two top 9 forwards to be truly competitive IMO, Chytil and someone, or two new guys if Chytil cannot come back.

Maybe they do a package for both Chychrun and Tarasenko. Give them KK, Jones, Pitlick and Ottawa retains some salary.

Lord no. Two overpaid players. As I said. They need to roll the dice on a young center like Pinto and a center prospect. Salary is the last thing we need to add. As well as wingers and defenseman.

Chychrun isn't likely but I think they'll look at Tara again to help in the playoffs as an expiring UFA. I wasn't thinking of anything longer term with him, just a rental.

Chytil on his way back to the US. No word on when he may return to the lineup but indications are he will begin practicing with the team when they wrap up the road trip.

Drury falls in love with these players like Bonino, Vesey, Pitlick. Guy is a tool.

Say it again. Team needs a partial rebuild. Lindgren is a guy I'd seriously consider moving at the deadline. He is one of the guys who will get old, fast. I'm not paying him either what he will want. I'd hate to give up on Kakko but for a young center considering Chytil is basically finished, I'd have to do it. It wouldn't be popular with the fans but I'd ask Mika to waive his NMC and see what he could bring back. Both Kreider and Zibanejad need to be put on the second PP unit. No more first PP time.

For once I totally agree with you. Only shot I re-sign Lindgren is if he stays around $3M per as he is right now, $3.5M tops, I cannot give him more as he's a player that will not age well with his style of play. And at this point a change of scenery would do Kakko well I think, but you cannot trade him if it's pennies on the dollar, then you might as well keep him.

As I have been writing the past few days, I think the smarter play at the trade DL is to reboot a bit and change the core/identity of the team if you can considering the NTC's and NMC's. To me with Chytil done, the Rangers would need 3 pieces to be legit contenders, 2 top 9 forwards (one of which needs to be a C), and a dman upgrade. Even with the extra Chytil cap money, that will be difficult to pull off, and that doesn't even factor in the assets we'll have to trade. Best play I think is to go the other way, unless something drastically changes over the next few weeks leading up to the trade DL.
