This is a wasted season if we're not playing our young guys. I get that he wants to get wins but wins don't help us right now. If they happen organically while we play our young guys, so be it, but meaningless wins at the expense of developing our young guys is not a good decision at all.
Keep in mind that both Walker and Camara have been getting minutes in crunch time. So Chauncey is willing to play the youngsters. Also before Sharpe got hurt he was playing in crunch time. So really we are just talking about Scoot and as mentioned he is getting close to 26 minutes a game. Granted when Sharpe comes back Chauncey will have to figure something out.....if Malcolm has not been traded. But right now I don't think that Billups is overplaying the vets. We are just talking about one guy, and he is still getting plenty of run. Unless you are worried about Murray and Rupert and as far as I am concerned they can wait their turn like most rookies do.
I think you're overvaluing the extra playing time. I saw Scoot get in over his head last night and don't think pushing the issue this early in his career is necessary.
again i get where your coming from but if losses matter to cronin and jody for some damn reason or they want the vets to play to increase their value then playing the young guys doesnt matter when your jobless.
I don't think anyone would debate that. But did Chauncey say how many minutes are needed? I would say there is very little difference between 30 minutes and 40 minutes. Is there a difference between 22 and 30?
in my mind, yes. especially when the 22 minutes doesn't include clutch time. chauncey himself said yesterday that he wanted to put brog back in once Scoot turned the ball over in the 4th quarter because he wanted to "win" the game. this completely defeats the purpose of the season in my mind. why do we need to win now? surely we aren't having delusions of grandeur about making the play-in. So we are prioritizing winning while deliberately worsening our lottery odds as our prized rookie sits and watches instead of getting reps. A close game against a contender while Scoot is on the bench is no "win" for me.
All he needed was glasses I'm fucking dying. I know I keep saying it but I don't think I'll ever get over that.
Just curious folk, who do we think we have in Scoot? (comparison to a relatively recent PG)? Initially I was hoping for a Nash/Kidd/Paul type but as I watch him, I'm increasingly thinking @THE HCP has gotten his wish and we have a Westbrook. The kid plays with fervent abandon and is not as much of an assist guy as I had thought and is more of a scorer. Am I off base?
We have a point guard like no other point guard! All hail the Scoot! There has been and will be no other point guards before Scoot! We Are Not Worthy! Behold the Scoot and Know that he is Real! Just kidding. Yeah lets hope he continues to excel and If he becomes as good as Westbrook we will all be very happy I'm certain. Going to enjoy his growth and progression this season.
100%. Scoot is doing just fine with the minutes he is getting and I believe Chauncey is grooming him correctly. Leas minutes and shorter leash when he is off his game. More minutes and longer leash when he shows well. On those less minutes games, he has a quality vet playing more who can come back and explain to him what he is doing vs what Scoot was doing, to help accelerate his game and bbiq.
Last night he was getting to the line like crazy. Using his strength and speed to go at defenders. He strikes me as very very strong. Easy two points. His FT shooting is superb.
