Unarmed people might have a fist fight. Usually walk away from that.

But that one guy was tackled with an AR. I don't know many people who carry around ARs just in case they get into a dispute.

Was he? Good point if so. Just the latest I read.

Also read that the guy who tackled him didn't see the gun until he was mid tackle and it came out of the guys sleeve or something. Not sure that describes an AR

Edit: Appears one of them was an assault rifle. They thought maybe he had another gun too.

Fuck these people with guns and those who support them. Innocent people….children need to stop getting shot.

This is very true. But on the flip side, I have a friend who just experienced a home invasion from some guy who just got out of jail for kidnapping. He broke down their front door. His wife was home alone with their small child and was able to grab their handgun out of the safe to scare him off. Exactly how was she supposed to defend herself and her child against a very large man without it?

Walking around with a gun is not needed, nor is owning an assault rifle. I have never held a loaded gun in my life, nor have I been inclined to buy one....but I can definitely see the need to protect your family from all the psychos out there.

Self defense and pulling a gun over an argument are two different things.

You are absolutely correct. So you agree that not all guns should be banned because there is the occasional need to defend your home and your family?

Probably in a lot of circumstances, those are nice options. But in the case of my friend's wife.....I don't think it would have slowed the guy down. I saw the video of him breaking down the door. It probably would have just pissed the huge mf'er off if she pulled the trigger. The glock on the other hand worked just fine as he ran into another part of the house until the cops showed up.

I’ve been trained and shot everything from handguns to grenade launchers and 40 cal machine guns the size of a car…… I can definitely see why people do NOT need them.

    Common sense gun laws.

    It's really not that difficult.

This gets thrown around so much that it really loses all meaning.

It's basically the equivalent of thoughts and prayers.

Some want to make the gun argument revolve around these mass shootings, which are a very small % of violence relative to the whole.

But do you really believe that banning AR-15s will put an end to them? If someone is determined to inflict a mass casualty event, they can use a vehicle, or a knife, or a regular hunting rifle or shotgun....

The deeper question is why our society produces so many psychos.

Are you really equivocating an AR15 that can fire several hundred rounds in a minute from a distance with a knife or a shotgun? Seriously! I'll take my chances against a knife any day.

I agree. I've have been attacked with a knife and survived just fine. Had it been a gun I might not have been so lucky.
