I say start him from day one and see what you have and let him develop.

    Huh?

    Abdur-Rahim was a post/mid range player.

I have zero faith in him becoming anything in the NBA.

I'd go so far as to say he may be the worst twin in NBA history in comparison to his brother.

Right now, I'd say Brook and Robin probably have the biggest gap. I think the gulf between Kris and Keegan will far surpass that of the Lopez's.

At 23, getting a good starter is a big win. Getting a starter is a win. A strong 6th man is a win.

The Blazers have 2nd rounders Camara, Walker, and Rupert to go with Murray — actual positional size in 4 back-ups. Cronin and Schmitz have done a strong job with these guys. Hitting on 2 of 4 is a win. Jabari looks like a serious back-up, Camara — for a rookie — as a strong defender AND I’m good with Murray continuing to develop and looking like a smooth player at forward. It’s just too early for me to count ANY of these guys out.

I want to argue with you on this topic. But after turning over several stones, I really can’t.

Always fun to read older takes now that we have some real NBA film on him.

Over/under on him having a better career than Luke Babbitt?

Murray looks confused and Camara looks certain. Murray's unspectacular brother plays for a more experienced coach. Give Murray another year to equal Camara, which isn't all that high of a goal.

Murray has at least made strides in making his game not look robotic and predictable. I’ve seen him adopt a euro step and some dribble drive action. Compared to the sit in the corner and shuck 3’s we saw previously

if it's any consolation, none of the players taken after Murray are looking decent, at least not statistically. Last draft may have been one of the worst from #21-#60

Most late 1st rounders aren't going to get much of an opportunity in their first year so it doesn't mean much. Heck, Jarace Walker who was a lottery pick and wouldn't be included in the Siakam trade doesn't get minutes. We won't know for at least a few years. I hope this wasn't a Mike Schmitz pick.

sure...we don't know yet, but the same might be true of Murray. The one issue is he's already 23 years old; he'll turn 24 in August so he might have a limit on his upside that a 19-20 year old wouldn't have

Yeah, that's the main issue. I think why so many are down on the pick is because he's already 23 and doesn't look like anything more than a mediocre role player. Even if you whiff, you have to shoot for the guys with higher ceilings when you're a bad team.

...were both pretty much equally ineffective.

I'm one that is prone to over-use statistics... but I can't see how anyone can say that when they watched GG Jackson tonight.

He looked better than Murray and is ~5 years younger

Not to mention Carmara too, who is the much better player right now

That's not setting the bar. That's the safety mat beneath the bar.

sure. I wasn't really reaching firm conclusions on the draft class, just suggesting that the verdict wasn't delivered on Murray yet, although we do have some clues what the verdict will be. I haven't really watched the draft class much, especially the 21-60 picks, other than Camara

and yeah, Jackson definitely looks better and is the player who is the best, by far, statistically after Whitmore at #20. Camara is actually 3 months older than Murray

Exactly. I never understood this pick at all.
